“The importance and the significance of the River had sparked in me the idea of using the shores of the wonderful Wolastoq for this series that I have called the “Wolastoq Shores”. It struck me that most of our history lies at the bottom of the River as a result of flooding caused by the dams. It reminded me of the havoc caused by the beavers so long ago. But I am hopeful that the pursuit for our lost history can easily be remedied by the searching and the recording of its underwater shores. In this series, I have honored five of the six Communities of the Wolastoqiyik that I am familiar with. In each, a prominent elder from each Community is portrayed with the Wolastoq and it’s cultural and archeological treasures in the foreground.” - Dozay Christmas
