"Did I just see you regurgitate a scroll and swallow it again like it was nothing?" Hades isn't sure if he's disgusted or impressed.

They had been warned to stop messing with that jutsu, that trying to mimic the power of the rinnegan was a messy ordeal, and would likely end them up in trouble. Since the serpent had never heeded warnings, those words fell on deaf ears, and before they knew it, they had succeeded in one aspect of their objective. Or so they had thought. But portals were just as fickle as they had been told. Where they had ended up, when they felt gravity crush and swallow them whole, is a question they have not yet answered. The fail safe scroll they had kept on their person, or in their person as it were, did not appear to be working in this land. So it ends up being returned to its place, a rather eerie show when they swallow it like a serpent does a mouse. Appearing to defy physics, while looking so very effortless. The scroll was a reverse summon, and it was meant to transfer them back to their hideout when activated. That had failed, making them wonder just how far form home they were. A strangers voice breaks them from their thoughts, and they turn to look at the man - his dress code suggests they’re very far after all.

But swallowing objects whole as they are so prone to doing is something even those in their world find strange and inhuman, so for the moment, nothing seems considerably off about his comment. Well, if he had seen them with the scroll, there was a high chance he saw them arrive. And they just couldn’t have word getting out about their meddling with more illegal jutsu. A smile tugs lightly at their lips, as they turn to face the man with a deceptively friendly expression. “If you did, I’d have to kill you,” they say, “so why don’t you tell me dear, did you see anything?”

They didn’t know this man, and with the distance he speaks, they don’t think he knows them particularly well either. Which means his ability to read their souls apparent expiration date must be some form of power. A little ironic to then be calling them the odd one, given just how odd that greeting had been in itself. He is in good company however, little judgement will come from being informed of their souls current status. Instead, they take it as a rather good sign, that their pursuit for immortality was getting some recognition and confirmation. That he could see the ticking of the mortals clock, and that the hands on theirs had been frozen still.A little bit of pride can be taken with that - more so that he seems to think this is not ordinary, and therefore just that much more of a feat. “No stranger I imagine, than the one peering in to the souls of others hm?” they reply, golden eyes meeting the others gaze, observant and curious all at the same time. That they only wish their eyes could reveal more to them like his can. That a surface appearance is not all they had to work with. Maxwell looked at the young man as he left a store, wondering why he looked so down. He wasn't one to go out of his way usually but as a bishop of the church perhaps he should try to keep up appearances, "You look a little down, do you want to talk about it, my child?" A common term used with priests that he'd grown up around.

     SIGH. He really felt shitty today. It was just one of those days. A heavy feeling would hit him, seemingly without reason. It sucked. Not only because he felt like shit, but because feeling like shit made him feel pathetic as well. He had no REASON to be down, so why was he feeling like this? It didn’t make any sense. And - he didn’t know how to fight it. He had decided to go and get himself a chocolate bar, hoping that a treat would lighten his mood. He stood in front of the chocolate section for a while, wondering which one to get. In the end he decided on a thick one with coconut. He paid, and exited the shop, unwrapping it as he entered into the cold late-February day. A small shiver was ignored, and he popped the bar into his mouth, biting off about half of it in one go. It didn’t really make him feel better, he noticed. The need to sigh was suppressed. He really was GLOOMY today, wasn’t he? Better stay away from home. He didn’t want Grimmjow to catch his shitty mood.

     He took the second bite out of the chocolate bar, and chewed slowly. That’s when someone SPOKE to him. Nnoitra turned around, surprised that someone would want to talk to him. He generally gave off the vibe that it was best to stay clear, so it wasn’t too common for random people to say anything to him. Nnoitra’s expression changed into one of surprise. Do you want to talk about it, my child? Nnoitra didn’t to hear anything more than that to know that this guy was a priest. Nnoitra hadn’t talked to a priest in ages. Not since he was a kid. Nowadays, the only times he even SAW a priest was ONCE every year, for Christmas when him and Grimmjow went to church. But he never had a one-on-one conversation with one. Hell, Nnoitra had never even gone to Confession, though he had considered it many times. DID he want to talk about WHY he was feeling down? Absolutely fucking not. And especially not with a priest. Wasn’t that guy just going to judge him harder than anyone?

     ❝ Nah, I’m good, father. ❞ Nnoitra replied, a little bit of spite in his voice. He had mixed feelings about his Christian upbringing.  ❝ Pretty sure I’m gonna go ‘ta hell, so there ain’t no point in even tryin’. ❞ The priests he had talked to when he was a kid had always made him feel like shit. They had tried to scare him into being a better person, by telling him about Hell, the Devil and sins. Too bad it hadn’t worked at all.
