Growing up with a rich family leaves you with many missed opportunities. At least that’s how Toby feels, most people would think the opposite and sure he could have gone anywhere at anytime but he’d much rather go on an adventure on his own, even if that adventure is just in the pages of a book. He tends to keep to himself but if he does speak up his words aren’t always the nicest words that could be said.
Toby spends his time on sports to keep his family image up but his real love is writing. He could read and write for days and days at a time, it was one of the few secrets he shared with Quinn when they were younger and though it seems ridiculous it’s still the secret he trusts her with the most. Quinn will always be a part of his heart, she’s someone Toby feels like he should look after and take care of. Even though Quinn is very capable he still never wants her to get hurt or feel any sort of sadness and though they may not be together now or again, it won’t stop him from trying to treat her right.
Writing sample (minimum two paragraphs in character): Bambi Refuses lol

Writing sample (minimum two paragraphs in character): It had been a day just like any other, Toby woke up, got his morning hot chocolate and headed for school. He was starting to wonder if going to school every day was really worth it, after all what was he going to do with himself once he graduated? Go into sports? That's what his father would like, but really Toby wanted to be a writer and though he had the best grades in his English classes that was something he was going to have to continue to keep hidden.
But then again, he is older now and really all he's getting from his parents are their finance support...which he can always get a job and make his own money, maybe telling them wouldn't be so bad. He could finally be his own person and do what he wanted. Oh this was great! He needed to find Quinn and tell her.

The salty tang of the sea wafted around like stale air in an airtight room. Beyond, dusk was reaching its glory, painting the sky a transitioning orange-pink and dark blue. The now cold seawater lapped around Cassie’s feet, blanketing them with a dense, familiar presence. She remembered when her mother had taken her to this very same coast. It was so long ago that the memory barely made its way out of the secret oblivion of pain Cassie kept in her mind—the darkness that she rarely let anyone see. Back then, that side of her mind had never existed. Back then, the coast in which she stood was blistering with heat and was packed with people who laughed, smiled, and played underneath the sun’s rays. Cassie remembered her mother’s voice, coaxing the seven-year-old Cassidy to swim and build a sand castle. Cassie, however, was intrigued by something else.
“Sweetie, why don’t you join your father for a swim?” the beautiful woman gestured to a man waving at his wife and daughter. He held an inflatable inner tube and was half-consumed by waves. Cassidy turned her big, bright gaze at her mother, pointing a chubby finger toward the distance. “Mommy, why does it look like the sky is part of the sea?” her voice was high, inquiring. The woman released a bell of laughter and took hold of her daughter’s small hand. “Honey, the sky isn’t part of the sea. It just looks like it’s touching the sea because that’s all we notice from here.” She planted a kiss on Cassie’s head and pushed her forward, willing her to jump into the ocean and into her father’s outstretched arms.
Meet me where the sky touches the sea. Wait for me where the world begins. Cassie held the piece of fortune in her hands, unconsciously folding and unfolding the small paper. The memory began fading away, slithering back into the dark recessed of her mind. All that remained was her mother’s voice. It just looks like it’s touching the sea because that’s all we notice from here.

Still completely confused with himself, Toby tried to find an outlet so he could express himself and clear his own mind. That’s when the blonde started to sing. His voice was raspy, but haunting, and it carried his confusion deep in its tones. The more he focused on music, finally finding his true passion, the more his grades slipped. His parent’s decided they needed to carry out their threat, so they gave him a week to say goodbye to his friends before he was sent out to Ohio. Toby was upset, scared, and still very confused but most of that changed when he said goodbye to Michael. It was bittersweet almost; their goodbye started as normal friends parting ways until Michael pulled him into a desperate kiss. The last thing he asked was for Toby to write him. He promised the boy he would, but now that he was no longer confused over his sexuality his confidence and pride was returning. For Toby, that meant he was returning to his old-self but for Michael? That meant he was probably going to be forgotten, even though he was Toby’s first crush. Lima was somewhere new for him to start over, why would he want someone back home in North Carolina to hold him back?
Writing sample (minimum two paragraphs in character): Toby climbed into the driver’s seat of the sleek black Impala, a gift from his uncle after moving in with them. His hand turned the key into the ignition and he smirked as the engine kicked into life. The car was old, about a 67, and it was covered in rust and dirt but he still loved the beast of a machine. It was the only car he’d ever owned, why wouldn’t he? He mashed his foot against the accelerator and speed off towards his new high-school, the music of Lana Del-Ray pouring out of his speakers. His raspy voice danced along with hers as he wove through traffic. It didn’t take him too long to reach the new high school, nor did it take him long to find a parking spot. He remained in his car though, windows up and music low, as his nerves started to kick in. He was going to be starting fresh as a senior, it’s hard enough to start fresh but in your final year? I’m better off dropping out of school and turning to drugs, this is going to suck. Toby let his thoughts wander through his inner pessimism for just a moment longer until he decided to finally force himself out of the car.
Slinging his back-pack over his shoulder, he locked his car and pushed his headphones into his ears. The rolling tones of Birdy eased his jittery nerves as he began walking towards the giant concrete building. All types of people pushed around him, all dressed to almost stereotypically define what type of people they would hang out with. There were the obvious cheerleaders, the jocks, the nerd, etc. It was like the scene out of Mean Girls where Janice plotted out the cafeteria for Katy. Toby allowed himself to smile at them as he continued through the halls, basically window-shopping and trying to see what group had the most attractive members because that’s clearly the best reason to join. He walked right past the choir room, completely unaware of the talent that lay within; completely unaware of where he belonged.
