(A tag full of WIPs ask game. Which was a while ago whoops)

I don't have any particular snippets and I haven't picked at this one in a while hdfjs but the premise is that Juste, hunting for vampires as the Belmonts do, encounters Olrox and Mizrak together in Paris at some point in the weeks after S2. Because holy shit the factors at play in that situation:

Olrox killed Juste's daughter and traumatised his grandson. Probably archenemy no. 1 after Ruthven.

Juste (in my mind) never actually found out that Olrox has been in France.

Mizrak is a vampire now.

Juste spent time with Mizrak when they were taking care of Maria. Probably respects him, knows him as a good man. Paid his respects when Mizrak, as far as he knew, died.

Mizrak is a vampire now. With Olrox.

That's. That's Olrox. The vampire and murderer Olrox standing in front of him.

Juste apparently mentioned Olrox to Mizrak, including wanting to fucking kill him, to the point that they both know damn well that they both know exactly who Olrox is.

A powerful Belmont is facing down Olrox's lover. And that's never gone horrifically for everyone involved in the past, surely?

Like, Juste is flexing the ol' magic again for the first time after years of depression, he has a new lease on life and is eager to do what he does best and clean the remnants of Bathory's vampires from Paris. He hasn't laid down his sword like Richter has and he's raring to go and raring to burn this motherfucker's face off. Olrox is trying to keep it together but the whole time internally he's having the panic attack of a centuries-long vampiric lifetime because no no no this cannot happen again. Mizrak is caught between worry for Olrox and guilt at being basically caught with him by the father of the person he killed. World's messiest Mexican Mexica standoff.

oiugfhjhgf it's basically an idea for a moment in Eventual Alumizrox Threesome Fic (set in Paris like a couple of months after S2E8) where Adrian does a double take with his nose in Olrox's hair like "oh, you're doing something different with it, aren't you?" bc he can tell it smells a little different than what he's used to back when they were travelling together in the Americas. Olrox probably bitches about not being able to find the right stuff he's used to in backwater France so he had to substitute. This is from Mizrak's POV so for him it's (another) realisation that, oh, they know each other, huh (not in a bad way but like. he spends a lot of time kind of recalibrating what little he knew, about Alucard especially, over this fic. while they're fucking nasty ofc <3)

MWAH HI TY 🥰 ok first of all this is all down to you and your gotdang late lover posting that was the thing that finally got a Certified CBB Version of olrox's past lover into my head so THANK U SO MUCH.

Sososo. This is the fic of my version of how Olrox and his late lover met and got to know each other. Basically they meet by surprise in the forest in Massachusetts [one day I'll spell that right first time ashjds] and LL, to Olrox's great surprise, actually comes back and asks Olrox if he's willing to tell him stories, from what he correctly figures must have been a very long, vampiric life. Olrox already Feels Some Complicated Things about the whole thing and/but agrees to the deal, and they spend the next several weeks? months? meeting up in the woods and getting to know each other. And Olrox most certainly knows exactly what to do with himself and how to feel when he realises he might be falling in love for the first time in his entire life. he's doing great don't worry about it. (i mean genuinely it is fine here. this fic isn't the painful one lmao that's the next one planned 🥲)

But uh. Snippet time:

Over a long life, Olrox has learnt not to expect many things that aren't more of the same. But of all the things he doesn't expect, perhaps one of the highest on that list is when the man comes back.

It's clear that it's Olrox he's back for, because he walks straight back to the spot where they'd encountered each other first. Today, travelling invisibly alongside him as ribbons of smoke through the trees, Olrox can take the time to examine him more closely. His prominent nose is all round, soft edges, and the same deerskin bag as he had the other day is slung over his shoulder. Wrinkles have started to etch across his face, and the single strip of hair that runs long down his head is half grey. But his step is spry, and his eyes are bright as, when he arrives, he carefully appraises the clearing, before he's apparently satisfied and settles himself on a freshly-fallen log. If he's aware he's being watched, he doesn't show it - only takes a steel knife and a length of wood from his bag and begins to carve, occasionally looking up to glance around as he, quite clearly, waits for something.

He's has an easy confidence to him, and Olrox is intrigued. So, having made his decision, he smooths from mist back into his usual form and steps out into the clearing before him.

When the man sees him, those brown eyes light with something like fire, and Olrox can't help but be a little [gratified] by that.

"Not many people," Olrox says in English, before the man can speak, "would come back to find a vampire when they'd already escaped it with their life."

2. What movie have you watched most recently? What did you think of it?

Lmao I am as always a mfer who's incapable of watching new-to-me things so since December the answer has remained Amadeus 1984. Favourite film of all time, fantastic writing and acting and costuming (although it would be wonderful if the women were allowed to cover their tits sometimes tbqh), Salieri is a bitch and a loser and he's everything.

14. if you could give a TED talk on anything, what would you talk about?

dskfsjhjk this one's been answered too now rip but fuck it new TED talk. This one's about how life is at its root literally just molecules that can catalyse their own replication (Bada, 2004) (google scholar link bc i'm not sure which pdfs require uni/organisation access). Which was one of those realisations that fundamentally rewired my brain and how I think about the world, y'know? Evolution and reproduction arent, like, biological or moral imperatives. There's nothing 'failed' about the sets of molecules that didn't do that. They just... didn't catalyse their own reproduction to the same extent. We're biased/primed towards thinking of reproduction as the 'success' because by our very nature we wouldn't be here if our ancestor sets of molecules hadn't reproduced themselves, and thus probably 'wanted' (in the loosest, evolutionary term) to do so.
