Your dreams involve risks: A post to those stepping out for their dreams
Today is a glimpse of just a small handful of some of the greatness that is
happening in our country TODAY.
As we celebrate our 4th of July tomorrow one thing about America that has
always struck me as amazing is that it is truly a land for dreams.
I believe anyone born in this country is part of "the lucky sperm club."
Not because we are all born with riches and the ability to sit around and do
nothing (which is some peoples definition of the lucky sperm club.)
BUT RATHER...
Every single one of us has the opportunity, should we choose to take risks and
lay it all on the line, to go after our dreams and achieve whatever it is in life that
we are seeking out.
To me that is something special. And that is what we need to all be thankful
for.
So without further ado...two people/groups doing that today!
These people are stepping out and taking risks but are also living every day
exactly how they want to. They wake up excited, energized, happy, and ready
to make this country and world a better place.
So to these people, and all of those people in our country going out and taking
advantage of the opportunities we have, I sayHappy Fourth ofJuly!
1) Tim McCarthy: Raising Cane's Chicken Fingers/RCO Limited
Tim is just a few years older than me but already he has achieved so much in life.
Today I congratulate him on being awarded the Entrepenuer of the Year Award
in Retail in the Midwest Region at the Ernst and Young Entrepenuer Awards!
Not a small feat by any stretch!
Tim is the founder of RCO Limited, which is the franchise for every Raising Cane's
Chicken Fingers in the Ohio area, and along with his partner on the left Roy Getz
in the above photo have created a culture second to none in an industry (fast
food) that is known for not having one.
Tim is one of my longest standing clients as we have worked together since I
was a rookie radio sales rep and he had just opened his first store on Ohio State
Campus at the ripe age of 24.
What were you doing when you were 24? Tim was setting out to achieve a dream.
His dream still lives today and as they add more and more stores they have not
deviated from their culture and identity one iota.
They are active in the community, treat their employees with the highest respect,
and take care of their product and their customers more than any restaurant
I have ever seen.
Oh and the food is TOP NOTCH! Congrats Tim keep on keeping on!
2) Todd Reigle: Honor Ride Ohio
Todd is my co worker and promotions director at 97.1 The Fan. (He is in the
middle of the five in this photo.)
Todd for the longest time has been an advocate and supporter of various
Veterans groups and Central Ohio Cancer fighting charities. He has gone on
numerous Honor Flight Trips but over the past year wanted to do more, give
back more, and live his dream more.
Instead of just talking about how he wanted to raise more money for the vets
and do a bike ride across the state of Ohio during the week of the 4th of July
he decided a new approach!
HE MADE IT A REALITY!
Todd spent the last year tirelessly planning, fundraising, and working on this
bike ride that has sent them from the Northern tip of Ohio down through London
Ohio currently. Their trail car broke down and they have lost riders to injuries
but Todd has stayed steadfast and upbeat this week in his approach to finishing
the Honor Ride.
Todd could have talked about doing this for the rest of his life, most people do
just that, but instead Todd went out and risked his neck and his out there this
morning living his dream!
Please say a good thought or prayer for Todd and his team as they battle heat,
concussions, broken cars, and broken ribs over the final two days of Honor Ride
and can finish the race strong.
Either way Todd went out and took a risk and has raised tens of thousands of
dollars for local Central Ohio vets charities. And that in itself is the real goal.
As we celebrate our 4th of July tomorrow let us also celebrate the Tim's and the
Todd's of this country who have taken advantage of the great opportunities that
lay before us and have taken risks that some told them not to take but are both
out there today achieving their dreams!
And let us never forget our own dreams and help ourselves and all those around
the whole world achieve all of them.
Thanks for reading everyone!! Anyone else you can think of doing something
remarkable?? Post it here or email ME!
CARPE DIEM ALL, Have a happy and safe holiday!
