Spain. Y/N had booked the trip to escape the crazy and overwhelming life she lived back home. A life she only got to share with her closest friends which happened to take off work for the time she went. They were just three girls, exploring the world and admiring the beauty of a country they never got to see.
Dancing their doubts away with a decent amount of alcohol intoxicating them, Y/N and her friends found themselves on the dancefloor of a club they had found on their quest to experience the spanish nightlife. It hardly took an hour for Y/N to notice an attractive man across the venue. He was fairly tall, had full dark hair that fell in his face while he bobbed his head to the music and his body was hugged by tann shorts and a hawaiian shirt. He looked at her, too, nipping on his beer and letting his eyes wander over the crowd every once in a while to reduce the creepiness. Both on vacation and not really caring what else was going to happen that night, he approached her at the bar and led her to the dance floor where she slowly but surely led him to believe she wanted more than this. More than just dancing in an iffy club, surrounded by people, who were sweaty and bumping into them every five seconds.
So he led here to a calmer corner of the club where they talked. They talked about everything until they didn't know what to say anymore. Y/N learned that the mysterious man was called Todd. He was on vacation with a couple of friends and had rented an Airbnb close to the beach, about 10 minutes from her hotel. Todd refused to tell her more about his life, wanting to have this vacation be a time to escape from life. So they don't talk about their jobs or hometowns, simply enjoying the other’s company for as long as they could. He looked at her, holding her hand and the other resting on her thigh as she leaned her head on his shoulder and slowly drifted into thoughts about this man. Soon he lifted her chin with his fingers and pushed her lips against his silently. It wasn't forceful in any way. Almost seeming like another attempt of a topic they could occupy themselves with and Y/N didn't stop him. It was easy kissing him, too. As if they had done it before, just not in this way.
They made out for a long time. Her hand wandering to his hair and his holding the back of her head. Todd started kissing her neck and his hand slid further up her thigh. With a weird feeling in her gut, she stopped him, not wanting to take it that far just yet.
“Is everything alright?” His eyes mustered her for a minute. Serious concern sparked in them when she shook her head and scooched back on the seat.
“I- I just have to find my friends… good night.” Y/N got up heading to the dance floor to find her girlfriends and drag them home with her. But before she could fully disappear in the crown she turned back around to Todd, mouthing a ‘thank you’ and proceeding to push through the people.
She went back to her hotel that night, thinking about the mysterious guy she spent most of her time making out with and trying to ignore her friends, who, to her surprise, didn't mention what had happened at the club. Well, considering they were all pretty occupied, sneaking their own little snogg on the dancefloor, Y/N wasn't all too worried about it.
It was the next morning when Todd texted her via instagram, asking if she would come back to the club and ‘dance’ with him again. Y/N couldn't deny the butterflies moving in her stomach as she read how much he enjoyed her company last night. She was set back to the previous night. The memory erased all the doubt she had about her actions and replaced the uneasy feeling she had felt at night, with a warm and welcoming one.
So… he had asked if she was coming back to dance with him tonight. To be honest, Y/N wasn’t much of a party animal, but her friends didn’t mind when she asked them to go again. So they did.
Y/N and her friends were dancing to the music, when Y/N excused herself from the group to find Todd. She found him. Leaning at the bar and watching the scene with a beer in hand the way he did last time. She approached him and they got to talking again. It didn't take long for them to be wrapped up in each other again. They were dancing and making out even on the dancefloor for everyone to see. Losing track of time and the ability to dance, too, they just stood there arms slung around the other and tongues deep down the throat of one another. It felt like minutes, but given both of their intoxicated state, none of them noticed, they had been doing this for thirty minutes. After a while, Todd grabbed her butt, riding up her skirt and pushing her back to reality. Y/N stopped him once again, telling him she had to go to the bathroom and leaving with her friends again. This time with two guys her friends had picked up at the club and who offered to take them home to their hotel.
As she sat in the car, watching the buildings rush behind her, Y/N couldn't help but feel guilty about her behavior. She couldn't help it, though. All her alarms went off as soon as Todd would imply anything other than kissing. It was all so new to her. She wasn't acting like herself. The real life Y/N couldn't keep meeting a stranger at the club or step in a stranger's car late at night. It was scary and overwhelming. Her heartbeat picked up as she realised the situation she was in. She needed to talk to someone and most importantly, she needed to apologize to Todd. He had been nothing but nice and caring. Sure, his intentions had slipped every time they were together, but Y/N couldn't blame him for wanting a little action while on vacation… drunk and on vacation.
Todd texted her again. Genuinely concerned whether she was doing alright or not. He had just come for her and seeing as she left after only spending one hour at the club, made his heart sink deep in his pants. She answered him, telling him she would be alright and reassuring later that night that she got home safely and that she had to go, just so she didn't have to pay for a taxi back to her hotel. Her apology seemed genuine to him and Todd felt his pulse slow down as soon as he received it. It didn't take Todd long to respond. He offered to let her sleep over at his place the next time, just so she wouldn't get in danger by deciding to jump into a stranger's car completely wasted.
He asked if they would see eachother again and Y/N hoped so, too. They met at the club again after two days, making out on some sofa and his hands slowly sliding up her leg again. Y/N had to admit, Todd was pretty smooth with his attempts to have her closer to him and seeing as she had felt regret every night she went home without him, she didn't stop him this time. In fact, she started working on his neck this time, intending to leave a little reminder at the spot her lips met with his skin. Todds hand went higher and higher until he touched her where she really needed him. Y/N moaned silently, kissing him deeper and burying her head in his neck right after.
They left together that night. Walking to his place hand in hand, fingers intertwined and silence surrounding their twenty minute walk. It wasn't cold, but Y/N felt goosebumps trailing down her arms with every minute she walked with Todd. It was exciting to explore this wild side of her. The real life Y/N would never go home with someone she met only four days prior. In fact, she would have stopped this at the very first meeting and went on with her life. But this? This was vacation Y/N. A girl who got hooked onto a stranger's idea of just enjoying herself for the time she was here and leaving this place without a doubt in mind.
He led her up to his room of the apartment, he probably shared with his buddies for the vacation and closed the door behind them. Y/N took a look around, admiring the big window and balcony added to his room. Was this really the right decision? Y/N scolded herself for wanting to stop her personal adventure. She tried to focus on something else and as she noticed, they were still holding hands, she let the breeze blow away her worries and looked at him. Everything felt so normal with Todd and it felt good to know that there were people, who cared for others such as herself: A stranger Todd happened to drunkenly make out with on a humid summer night. He admired Y/N. They knew so little about each other and yet, they seemed to know everything. It was beautiful and almost too good to be true.
He pulled her towards him by her hand, kissing her softly and pushing her against the door, hips meeting in the process, making them both groan in pleasure. The goosebumps on Y/N arms traveled up her spine to her jaw, making her shiver in the process. Todd noticed the slight shaking of her body, pushing her closer to his chest to share his body heat with her. When Y/N stopped to look at him, he led her to the bed. Undressing each other slowly, they proceeded to fully go at it, not caring who could hear them at that moment.
The next morning, she woke up before him. The sun shining through the curtains, tickling her skin soflty as Y/N opened her eyes. His arm was wrapped around her waist. Tapped in a deep slumber, Todd moved to the side as soon as she left the bed. She went on quietly, not wanting to wake him or his roommate at this hour. Y/N found herself on the street, which looked strangely unfamiliar to her, considering she had walked it a couple hours prior, and made her way back to her hotel. Her head hung low, but the uneasy feeling in her stomach did not come from sleeping with him. She didn't regret that. She regretted that she left this early and basically made it a one night stand. Which it was, for now. Though, Y/N knew that this was not going to be the last time they saw each other. And she was right.
That went on for a couple of days. Todd texting her every morning, asking where she had gone and that he had wanted to make her breakfast and her staying over the next night, but finding another excuse why she had to leave.
It wasn't for a couple days later when Y/N stayed over again, accidentally oversleeping since the last night's actions had been a little too exhausted to get up at 6am. Todd woke up before her, admiring the woman beside him. Her face was buried in a pillow and half of her body was covered by his blanket. She breathed steadily and calmly and her skin glowed in the orange sunrise rays.Todd got ready for the day shortly after. He layed out a couple of fresh clothes for her which she had forgotten over the past times she stayed over and was relieved to see that it almost formed a complete outfit.
Y/N woke up to the smell of waffles tickling her nostrils and looked around the room in confusion as soon as she opened her heavy eyes. She didn't quite realize the situation she found herself in right away. Enjoying the softness of the sheets and light breeze moving the white flowy curtains by the window, she closed her eyes once more.
This wasn't her hotel room. This was Todd's room. She jerked up, searching for said man next to her and came to find the bed empty. She was freaking out. Feverishly trying to find a solution for her problem and failing miserably. After a solid ten minutes of silent panic, Y/N decided that she couldn't face the situation and would just have to face the consequences her actions had in store.
So she got up, took a shower and changed into her washed clothes Todd had laid out for her, only lacking a shirt he had also laid out for her from him. She got to the kitchen and was greeted by a smiling man, cooking something that looked like eggs. Todd was wearing swimming trunks. Nothing else and Y/N couldn't deny that she was enjoying the view in front of her.
“Good morning sunshine!” he beamed at her while stirring in the pan. “Glad to see you have decided to stay today… I'm honored.” Todd escaped a chuckle at his own little joke. As he stood there, shirtless, cooking breakfast and humming to the music on the radio silently, Y/N got lost in her thoughts. He sure was an attractive man and he was nice, too.
Todd put some scrambled eggs on her plate and began to sit down after offering her some coffee. They ate in silence for some time, every now and then stealing glances at the other and admiring the unnatural attractiveness that came with them this morning.
“Don't look at me like that…” Y/N hid her face by studying her waffle. She didn't feel comfortable sitting here with him, pretending that everything was normal. Both of them knew that this situation was as natural as Frogs in spacesuits and yet, neither tried to ask the question that was burning on both their tongues.
“Thank you for breakfast” Y/N tried to ease the tension with an awkward attempt, with which she earned nothing but a frown from Todd. he was definitely thinking about something.
“How come you always sneak out as if I were a one-night-stand?” There it was. The conversation she had feared ever since leaving his apartment the very first morning. Y/N was scared, because she didn't know why she was acting the way she did.
Swallowing a piece of waffle, she prepared herself for an answer. “I guess I have commitment issues.”
Todd nodded, even though he didn't know how this had been an answer to his question.
“But this isn't a commitment.”
Y/N looked up. If this wasn't a commitment for him, it meant that he didn't see her as more than just a one night stand. It stung to know that he didn't really care, but Y/N couldn't do anything but say: “I know.”
“Hey don't be sad.” He dropped his forn and scooched over to her chair, stroking her arm. “Everything is alright.”
“Yeah, I'm sorry.”
“You shouldnt be freaking out about this. There is nothing to worry about. Are you okay?”
Todd had asked a good question. Why was she freaking out about this? She was an adult. Old enough to make her own decision. Whether they were stupid or not. She should be okay, right? She was on vacation, enjoying every bit of it and yet here she was, worrying about a small detail such as meaningless sex. But was it real? Y/N couldn't help but feel a longing for Todd whenever he was away. After all, she did spend quite a lot of time with him and could, in a strange way, count him to her friends by now.
She drew a deep breath, preparing for the commitment she was about to drop on him. “I guess it's because I actually like you… and I'm scared everything will be different when this vacation is over.”
Todd smiled sympathetically. It was relieving to know that he didn't judge her. Merely looking in her eyes and letting his hand wander down her arm to intertwine their fingers.
“Well then it is time for us to talk about feelings and our life back home, I guess. Because if you believe it or not, I actually like you, too.” He chuckled again, squeezing her hand a little and winking at her seductively.
So they did. They spend the majority of the morning talking about everything they had put off over their last meetings and Y/N couldn't help, but fall for Todd even more. They discovered that they were both living in or close to LA. He liked to videotape him and his friends and post them on Youtube. He lived with the boys that he was on vacation with and his friends very, apparently, the craziest people on this planet.
If it was possible, Y/N felt even closer to him after that day. They spend most of their remaining days in Spain together, even inviting their friends to join them. And when the time came, that she and her friends had to leave, Todd promised her to be seeing each other back home, again. It was beautiful. Seeing this romance blossom in a foreign country and the hurt in both of their eyes, when they said goodbye on their last night. They had made each other feel at home wherever they were in a short amount of time and neither of them would trade that for anything else.
In which Todd offers Y/N to practice kissing with him.

They were outside, leaning on the reilling of Todd's balcony and watching over the city lights slowly fading in the distance as they talked the night away. Todd and Y/N had been friends for a fair amount of time. Meeting through a mutual friend, they hit it off quite well from the start. They shared the same interests and hobbies, liked the same music and even the same weird foods. But as mentioned before, they were just friends. Nothing more than that. Well, at least that's what Y/N thought. Todd, on the other hand, caught himself staring at his friend for a little too long sometimes. He didn't mind, though. Just enjoying and appreciating the time he could spend with her, he wouldn't do anything to jeopardize the amazing friendship they had.
“You know, sometimes I wonder if my soulmate is out there at this very moment, looking at the city and thinking of me…” Y/N trailed off.
At her words, Todd felt his heart being stung by a little needle. So tiny, that it shouldn't even bother him, but it did. Y/N had always been a hopeless romantic, forcing him to watch every cheesy movie out there and dragging him to bookstores to buy the next novel she could bury her nose in for the following week.
“I wonder how it works, the whole soulmate thing, I mean…” Todd chuckled at her comment. Only Y/N could believe in something without even having an own theory about its functions.
“Well, how do you know that soulmates even exist?” he urged, nudging his friend with his shoulder and watching as she tumbled to the side.
Y/N gasped. Placing her hand over her heart to exaggerate the hurt she was feeling.
“How dare you, Smithy. Soulmates are as real as the air we’re breathing. Thank you very much.” She shook her head in disbelief and continued to look over the roofs of the neighborhood buildings. Her face was glowing in the blue light, the moon and city lights threw at the pair.
“I think, if soulmates were to exist-” he earned a glare from Y/N as he proposed his doubt on her beliefs, “-I mean, I guess… you just know when you meet them.”
Todd really tried to hide his expressions with his response. If he was being honest, he could exactly tell her how it felt to find one's soulmate. He knew, because he had already met his. At least he liked to believe that the feelings he would get around Y/N, were as close to that feeling as it gets. And seeing that she apparently did not feel the same toward him, made the tiny needle in his heart grow infinitely big.
She turned to Todd with a blank expression before asking, “What if they dont like me? What if the plan the universe has for two people doesn't work out between them?” Her face had turned a pale color and Todd slowly sneaked his arm around her shoulders to squeeze her towards him a little.
“I think anybody, who is lucky enough to have you as their soulmate, wouldn't complain in any way. You are amazing, Y/N.” A blush cept on her cheeks as she hoped that her soulmate would be as sweet and caring as her friend.
“I hope you're right, Toddy. They will just have to get used to the fact that I have flaws, just as being a bad kisser… or my lack of talent for musical instruments.” Y/N chuckled and buried her nose deeper in Todds shoulder.
A funny thought shot through the dark haireds head. He wanted it to be gone as soon as it had come but it just got stuck in his mind and occupied his thoughts until Y/N pulled him out of his silent monologue.
“What's up with you?” Her eyes sparkled in the moonlight as she trained them on his while still clutching to his shoulder like a small animal. A strike of confidence hit him and he opened his mouth almost automatically.
“I mean… I'm here if you want to practice.” Todd joked but got choked up as soon as he saw his friend sexpression change. Goosebumps crept not only on her arms but on his too. They trailed their way up his neck and down his spine making him feel all tingly inside. He didn't know this sudden boldness which had overcome him like a wave crashing on his shore of willpower, that wanted him to be as subtle as possible towards Y/N.
“Would you really…?” The girl turned silent for a moment. Never in a million years would she have thought about kissing her best friend on top of LA, surrounded by the light summer breeze and the sound of cars speeding down the highway in the distance. She watched Todd as he let his head hang low. The sudden wave of confidence seemed to vanish with every second Y/N was staring him down, expecting an answer. An answer, he wanted to elaborate so desperately, but he was too shy to commit to his feelings.
She didn't know why, but tonight she felt drawn towards Todd. And the fact that he looked so vulnerable and small right now, made her urge to hold and love him so much stronger. She stepped forward, holding her hand out to him and squeezing his fingers tight as soon as he got a hold of her. Todd almost mechanically pulled her into his chest, resting his head in the crook of her neck and taking in the smell of her hair. They stood there for what felt like hours and if you'd have asked either one of them, they wouldn't mind holding each other a little longer. This hug was more than just comforting. It was a way of saying how much they meant to each other, even if two different messages were passed at this moment.
Y/N pulled away to look at her friend. He smiled and chuckled once he remembered why they had gotten into this situation in the first place.
“The offer is still on the table”, Todd rushed with the last bit of confidence flooding through him. He leaned back with a cocky grin and opened his arms to exaggerate the idea he was proposing. And Y/N? She didn't even think about how weird this might be afterwards. She was genuinely concerned about her kissing abilities and the way they could possibly blow the first meeting with her soulmate. So she accepted, jumping into his arms and laughing suggestively.
“I mean, sure…” Todds heart was racing. The least thing he was expecting from this night was, to be standing here, kissing his long time crush in a romantic setting just as the one they found themselves in right now.
He leaned forward in an attempt to show her how ready he was. Closing his eyes, he waited for hers to finally come close to his and fill the emptiness, he had felt ever since meeting her. Y/N did the same until she felt the slightly chapped skin against her smooth lips. She tried moving her lips in a rhythm that fit his and found herself quite pleased when the thing she was doing didn't feel as bad as it used to. They pulled apart.
“Okay… So that wasn't too bad.” The corner of a smile snugg on his face as he tried to hide the fireworks in his stomach. He couldn't even process the thing that had just happened when Y/N spoke again.
“Can we try frenching? But don't laugh at me…” She inspected the floor before Todd placed his fingers under her chin and propped his mouth on top of hers again. They seemed so casual and the boy almost couldn't believe that he was kissing his best friend right now. It felt as though they had never done anything else.
They kissed for a while. After a couple of seconds, Todd traced his tongue along her lower lip, asking for entrance and Y/N granted. His heart skipped a beat as he explored the velvet walls of her mouth, encouraging her to use her tongue as well. She did. And now Todd knew why she had been so hesitant about it. The kiss really wasn't that great, but knowing that he would be able to “practice” with her until it was good, made it better.
Y/N pulled away again, hiding her face in her hands as she noticed that Todd was not enjoying it. He chuckled at the girl in front of him and pulled her fingers away from her face to reveal her swollen lips.
“Hey, hey.” he caressed her cheek with his thumbs and pulled her closer to him again “It's alright, it wasn't too bad.” Lying wasn’t his strong suit and right now, even a deaf person could have told that he was. And knowing that Y/N could totally tell how bad she was herself didn't exactly make it better.
“Well, teach me!” Her hands flung in the air in frustration and Todd didn't hesitate to kiss her again.
“Here”, he whispered kissing her cheek, “Try to copy me.”
The brunette slid his tongue inside her mouth again, applying pressure to hers and pulling it back again. Y/N was fairly good at copying him. They practiced for a while until she had gotten the hang of it and they could finally enjoy the kiss they were sharing for more than a minute now.
“Woah.” Y/N was speechless. She watched as her friend tried to gain his composure again and began to wonder, if she ever noticed how attractive his hair looked in the wind. He had a smile plastered over his whole face and she felt a pleasant warmth traveling through her body.
All of a sudden Todd noticed a far stronger attraction towards Y/N. Her hair seemed to smell even better than it already did. Her skin was glowing in a very appealing way and her eyes had seeked his with a message buried deep within her colored orbs. And that's when he knew it for sure: He did not only crush on Y/N, he had fallen in Love.
