Claw Toe Appreciation post
I mentioned before I was born with congenital claw toes, a toe deformity. I recently answered a few questions from @evelhak which included a question about shoes where I mentioned that the muscle area in my feet is different too and this causes a lot of problems with shoewear. However, there is one advantage to my feet that I didn't mention in regards to shoewear. Its flip-flops. I cannot relate to finding it hard to run on flip-flops AT ALL. Especially when they're the cheap rubber ones from the likes of the Primark. Bitch I LIVE on rubber flip-flops during the summer, I've done so since childhood and you're looking at the person who used to be that active kid who'd walk to the next village for a fun trip. It's literally one of my favorite perks of the summer season. My teachers used to warn me about running on my flip-flops when I was a kid, only to show them time and time again that there was nothing to worry about as I never got injured. I still haven't. You know why? It's the muscles and joints I talked about that are different, according to a quick Google search to get the name right, it's what you call your 'toe knuckle' which is extended in my feet. I've always preferred to walk tip-toed and when my feet are unrestrained I even have a tendency of not using the entire arch with every step and you can spot me occasionally just going from the tip of my feet to the next when running. That's all because of my superior toe knuckles and the ease I have landing on mine. I also mentioned before how my toes' bend shape has its perks when it comes to grabbing stuff with my feet. When you combine a better grip on flip-flops with running mostly on ones toe knuckles, its actually pretty easy to run on flip-flops. Sure, even my feet don't have a 100% ratio and sometimes I lose one if I run but even that rate is small. I thank the universe for my mother, who doesn't have claw toes but also swears to cheap rubber flip-flops during summer season (though she is less inclined to run in hers). She even walks barefoot on rare occasions and always allowed me to do the same. Because people with autism often like to walk on their tip-toes most people who know me never questioned me about the way I walk and assume its an autistic trait of mine when no, its just my bigger toe knuckles who hate shoewear. Have I already mentioned I cannot wait until its summer so I can start wearing my flip-flops again?
