New information from Gwendolyn tells us Luz is not the only human to live on the Boiling Isles. It is surprising, but not impossible as there has been human junk, food, and animals on the Boiling Isles and witches knew of their existence. It was a mystery to how residents of Boiling Isles knew about humans despite no way of seeing one. Now according to Gwendolyn, a rare and powerful substance known as Titan’s Blood can cause leaks between worlds. Although rare, it is possible for humans to suddenly appear on the Boiling Isles. Since Gwendolyn said she heard this information from her great-grandmother, this human lived in Bonesborough around 150-200 years ago (I am guessing so if I am wrong please tell me). Which is why I will be calling him Old Human since he may not be the first human to have lived on the Boiling Isles, just the first one to be mentioned. However, he suddenly vanished and it seems there was no sighting or mention of him ever since. We will know more answers about him in the next episode “Through The Looking Glass Ruins” as Luz and Amity are going to the most dangerous section of the library to attain that information. Now one has to wonder why is this human important? Besides the importance of Luz finding a way home, there may be more to this human. Here are some possibilities to the identity of Old Human.

1) Belos is Old Human

There have been some speculations that Old Human could be Belos. After season 1 ended, many fans theorized Belos may be human because of his hidden appearance, uses technology based magic, and his knowledge and motives of the Human realm. If Belos is a human, he could be Old Human as he did suddenly vanish and Belos appeared mysteriously 50 years before the current Boiling Isles era. If Belos and Old Human are the same person it would explain his knowledge of the Human Realm to gain a purpose of creating a portal for “Day of Unity” and why his magic uses technology instead of spell circles or glyphs. However, there are holes in this theory. Old Human was sighted during Gwendolyn’s great-grandmother’s era which has to be at least over 100 years ago. Dana stated humans and witches age the same, so Old Human would not be alive even before Belos’s rise to power. However, Belos does use Palisman magic to replenish himself and from the trailer we see a clip of Belos turning into a beast like creature. The “curse” could have affected how Belos aged like Eda’s curse and the Palisman magic keeps this curse from taking over (if what’s happening to Belos is a curse). However, there are other reasons besides age that may debunk this theory. If Old Human made the original portal Eda had, then why did Belos not know about its whereabouts in the Clawthorne household? Belos is hellbent on attaining the portal for “The Day of Unity” yet he was never able to find it. There is also the matter of the library. Belos wiped out the existence of King’s island meaning he is covering his tracks. However, this information seems very important and can be easily discovered in the library. Belos may have lost his memory of both information either from the curse or something else. His character is still a mystery to everyone and his identity is hidden both from his appearance and motives. However, we cannot rule out that Belos could be Old Human.

2) Old Human and Belos Related/Know Each Other

There is a possibility Belos could be related to Old Human. A theory from a Twitter user known as Cottoncandyarts (recommend following them because they have really good art and theories/ideas) said Belos could be half human and half witch or at the very least has some human genealogy within him. This could explain why he hides his appearance and uses technology to utilize magic. It also explains how has knowledge of the Human Realm and the portal’s existence yet does not know the whereabouts. There is also the fact there is a human only barrier in the Conforitorium which makes no sense unless you are part human. However, it does not explain how Belos’s curse was placed and using Palisman magic to either reduce the curse's effects or to keep him from aging rapidly. The only reason I can think of is that the Titan’s Blood must have affected Old Human and passed down in lineage.

There may not be a blood relation to Belos and Old Human but they may know each other. If Old Human did create the portal, then something must have happened between Belos and Old Human. When Eda found the portal, there was a large crack across the eye. It did not seem to damage the function of the portal and Eda was able to fix it. However, one has to wonder what happened to the portal and why did Old Human suddenly vanish. It is unclear how old Belos is as he appeared out of nowhere (made a theory to Belos’s identity if you want to check it out). Depending on what Belos is, he could have clashed with Old Human who saw him as a danger and went into hiding. It would also explain how he hides information such as what lies ahead in the library without Belos knowledge. However, this only is plausible when Belos’s identity is revealed or Old Human’s history is revealed.

3) Old Human is a New Character

Old Human could have no relation to Belos. He is just a human who lived in the Boiling Isles because of the Titan’s Blood side effect. However, he is going to be very important in “The Owl House”. First off, he was sighted during Gwedonlyn’s great-grandmother's era which means he lived during the Savage Ages. He lived on the Boiling Isles before Belos came to power and wild magic was being utilized. This is important because it will give us a clue to the real history of the Boiling Isles and maybe to reasons why Belos fabricated his story. Another importance of Old Human is that he may have created the portal to the Human Realm. Eda stated the portal was very old when she found it. Old Human was sighted around 150-200 years ago, which is very old. There’s also the fact he left something in the library which could be a clue on how to make another portal. The fact he came to the Boiling Isles from Titan’s Blood means said rare substance could have been the key to making the portal along with other materials. There is mystery to his sudden disappearance. However, we may have at least three reasons why he vanished. 1) He went back to the Human Realm after successfully making the portal. 2) He went into hiding. 3) Something happened to him which is why his portal was damaged yet buried (which would have been done beforehand). He may even have some relationship with the Clawthorne’s which is why his portal was found in an unknown location in the Clawthorne residence. Or that could just be a coincidence as we do not know if Old Human lived before or after Gwendolyn’s great-grandmother. However Old Human is, he is going to have great importance not only in helping Luz find a way to get back home but to discover more about the Boiling Isles and Belos’s plans and identity.

I believe we may have already seen Old Human. There are two characters yet to be introduced and are mysterious to their appearance. One is the knight looking fellow who looks like he is about to be attacked and the other the mysterious cloaked character. There is a title of episode 9 called “Eclipse Lake” and because the cloaked character has moons, stars, and suns some of the fandom assumes that is when we will see the character. However, this title and description has not been announced by Disney yet so it is not guaranteed. The knight looking character seems out of place and doesn’t seem to be a part of any coven. He could be Old Human in knightly attire before Belos’s reign. Depending on what will happen in “Through The Looking Glass Ruins” we may see what Old Human looks like and his story of his life on the Boiling Isles and how he created the portal.
