On a happier(?) note, The Fall of Gondolin has an audiobook now and it is excellent.

Yesterday, I assembled a bookshelf and transferred the majority of my Tolkien books to it. I say majority because I think someone is borrowing my Mirkwood Campaign AME book and I don't have room for my Maker of Middle-earth book on this shelf. I also wish I had space for my Star Wars books... Oh well!

Speaking of marathoning Tolkien movies, though, I do NOT recommend marathoning all the extended Hobbit movies and extended LotR movies straight through.

I mean. It's nice that I can say I've done it, but NEVER AGAIN.

Of course now that there's word that this isn't a straight LotR remake, I keep thinking about changes I would want from a new adaptation.

like that image of him on the hill with his sword held up in defiance and then the absolute joy that has him throwing his sword up and singing, I JUST LOVE THIS SO MUCH

Stern now was Éomer’s mood, and his mind clear again. There flowered a White Tree, and that was for Gondor; but Seven Stars were about it, and a high crown above it, the signs of Elendil that no lord had borne for years beyond count. And the stars flamed in the sunlight, for they were wrought of gems by Arwen daughter of Elrond; and the crown was bright in the morning, for it was wrought of mithril and gold. 

Thus came Aragorn son of Arathorn, Elessar, Isildur’s heir, out of the Paths of the Dead, borne upon a wind from the Sea to the kingdom of Gondor; and the mirth of the Rohirrim was a torrent of laughter and a flashing of swords, and the joy and wonder of the City was a music of trumpets and a ringing of bells.
