I love "Operation: Annihilate!" as a title, exclamation mark included! It actually has some of the most heartbreaking moments of TOS for me: Kirk finds his only sibling essentially tortured to death in a massacre and when Spock tries to reach out with I know how you must be feeling, we see Kirk—a genocide survivor—just look incredibly exhausted without doing more than just blinking for a moment before he steadies himself by trying to solve problems. So there's the silly title and design of the alien conquerors and then also The Horrors.

✅ What's something that appears in your fics over and over and over again, even if you don't mean to?

Ah! Good question. The first answer that comes to mind is that I tend to gravitate toward and write characters that are obsessed with being purposeful or useful, often to the detriment of their emotional needs or personal desires. Who cares about what the heart wants when you can serve other people? When you can be a shield or a sword or a blaster-- a living weapon or a guard dog? I'm sure there are other trends, but that's definitely the first one I can think of this morning. XD

Good timing on this question: normally I say I wrote my first fanfic in my 8th grade Creative Writing elective class, BUT I just the other day remembered that in 5th (maybe 4th?) grade, I wrote a book report on Island of the Aunts by Eva Ibbotson in the form of carefully in-character journal entries by the 2 child characters, recounting the events of the book. Which is objectively fanfiction!

So the answer is apparently: I got into writing fanfiction by the grace of extremely loose, creativity-encouraging instructions on how to write a book report, circa 2004-05.

5. Water lilies/lotuses

Definitely some of the most magical flowers/plants in the world. Also a particular soft spot for giant lily pads, because this is the Dream

4. Mandrakes. Incredibly sexy-- poisonous, hallucinogenic, considered hugely magically potent in traditions across the world; they're pretty flowers and also just funky little dudes.

3. Passion flowers. (Yeah, another flower, sue me.) There are a bunch of varieties of passion flowers, but they all look like jrpg enemies, and I love that for them

2. Pitcher plants. No explanation necessary, just look at them.

Moonflower cactus. Extra AF bitch from the Amazon that blooms once a year for one night and looks fabulous doing it.

Bonus, because it's not a plant, but bracket fungus. I've been obsessed with them since playing Crash Bandicoot when I was still in the single digits. Who wouldn't want to just climb up them and hang out like a little apartment balcony?

Wait, hold on, it is very important I know what Brazilian cheese rolls are! Do you mean Pão de Queijo, or is it something else...?

I live a mile or so away from a Venezuelan bakery and am addicted to their golfeados, so definitely clarify, and maybe drop a recipe if your rolls turned out well!
