who? valdís & taliesin vos || @tolvajok where? their second floor insulae apartment
The sun is just beginning to dip below the horizon, coloring the sky on warm yellows and oranges, when Valdís hears the tell-tale sounds of Tal stirring awake. It’s a usual day for the two of them, so the only time they will spend together is the intersection between him leaving the apartment and her getting ready for bed. She is not due to man Pandora’s Box for a few more days, so she must stay on Dora’s schedule to ensure she remains sharp when dealing with costumers.
It’s a damn shame that she had grown to like her role as much as she did, since it kept her away from the more entertaining jobs that took place during the darkest hour of the day. Still, someone has to make sure the goods the court steals are handled and sold properly. The continued flow of gold in and out of their pockets is what keeps things running, and she has spent too much blood and sweat — and admittedly some tears, but no one but Taliesin is aware of that particular fact.
Settling her mug down, she flips the page of the tome before her, eyes moving over the page with mild interest. It’s some magic tome or something, one of their most recent acquisitions, and she is going over it to try and determine a feasible price for the thing once enough time has passed it is not suspicious to sell it off at the Ghostlight Market. She has a vague idea of how much it’s worth, but Valdís will probably have to hire a middling magi or another to gauge how important the information within is, since she only knows slightly more about the whole thing than your average man.
Reaching for her mug again, she pauses when she hears the door to Tal’s bedroom open.
“Evening, sleepy head,” she drawls, head turning over her shoulder to send him a cheeky finger wave and brief smile, before continuing to grab her mug and take a sip of her tea. “Bought you dinner from that dumpling stall you like, and the bakery near Dora’s was selling custard tarts so I got some too.”
Turning to the tome, she closes it swiftly and sets it back into her bag, then she leans into her chair and tilts her head to focus her attention on Tal.
“What are your plans for the night? Any fun jobs coming up?”
