I think it'll good because if they choose it it'll be their own choice and it's almost defiant in a way to choose the name Hawkes since Tom dropped it in favor of a generational slave holding family name.

I agree, but then I don’t. Like, if it was their choice, god bless ‘em. But at the same time, not so much.

On one hand, I’m right here with you. Rosalee, Tom’s literal daughter, was never given her father’s last name. Something that was her birthright. Just like her freedom was. To take Hawkes as her last name, would be the ultimate defiance, because she would choose to completely disown Tom Macon, and take the last name of someone who was more like her father than Tom ever was: John.

BUT on the other hand, I feel like…they already made their choice with Hampton. Hampton is their own rebellion. It represents the family they created for themselves. Their history. Their struggle. Not anyone else’s. If you add Hawkes to end of it, it becomes about something entirely different. About SOMEONE entirely different y'know.

So, yeah, I’m really here for Hampton being their last name over Hampton-Hawkes. But I wouldn’t necessarily be up in arms, if they chose to do something like that.

Noah has some fierce gun skills. First how he was able to hit Stabler in the water (from what I read, getting an accurate shot with those guns very rarely happened) and how he was able to quickly outdraw and shoot a trained marshal. Noah said he was a good slave at Macon before Henry came along so that makes me think that just like with Sam, Macon let other "good" slaves go shooting with him too.

It’s possible! Tom seems like the kind of guy who would be buddy-buddy with his slaves until they did something to piss them off. Like when his seal went missing. But I think Tom had a soft spot for Sam more than the others, and he didn’t seem to particularly like Noah, though he did admire his fire. I’m going to chalk Noah’s sharp shooting up to T.V. magic.

I can’t believe this man actually thought Ernestine would be happy going to live with him in Washington after he killed her son. Just like when he handed Sam his rifle. He seriously underestimated her.

Imagine: Tom arrives at the pearly gates, but he only sees Zeke. In true Zeke fashion, there are no words said. Only screams can be heard before he uses all of his force to slam Tom straight down into hell as hard as possible.

I can’t think of anything more satisfying. Tom deserves whatever Hell has in store for him.

Petition to tag Rosalee/give her the last name Hawkes because Tom is officially identified as her father and she has her abolitionist/underground uncle John Hawkes. Plus, I’m not down for her being called Macon.

Idk about Tom and if he will go completely hard. While it would make sense, he still is very much a wishy washy coward that can very easily be swayed and that was showed after he was in the wine cellar after his speech. His talk with James in the preview seems kind of calm. Maybe he's going to "sell" James to John so he can be free.

I constantly go back and forth about where Tom is going to go, honestly. He’ll either become harder or softer. I think, for the story’s sake, to raise the stakes, he’s going to become harder. And it’s exactly because of why you said - he’s a coward. He’s so malleable. He’s too caught up in what other people think, and that includes his slaves as well as his peers. But he’s also incredibly selfish, which is why I think he’s going to focus his energy on doing what the reverend tells him to do to better his image. He’s still going to be a little bitch, but his methods will change, and not in favor of his slaves.

That said, it’s obvious that in his own twisted way, Tom cares for Rosalee, so I’m sure he cares for James in the same twisted way. It’s very possible he’ll do something to protect his son before things get worse. Unless they get better, but I don’t think they will. Not yet, anyway.

Tom is going to be that one character who is always pulled back and forth by his own weak will. He’ll have torn himself apart by the time his story is done.
