tomarry aus where harry is the mysterious transfer student with great amounts of power are my guilty pleasure.
au where harry evans has a few screws loose in the head and its evident to everyone as soon as he steps foot into the great hall. his eyes look like they are in a permanent state of “glazed over”, his hair a wild mess of black curls (white strands here and there).
au where as soon as he sits down, he is a hat stall. minutes pass by, the hat seeming more agitated by the second. harry does not bat an eye when the sorting hat finally screams out “HUFFLEPUFF” to the great hall.
au where despite being in the “unnoticed” house and being of (presumably) muggleborn descent, harry feels wrong. inhumane. eldritch.
au where everywhere harry goes, whispers follow. a cold settles in every room he enters. shadows curve and bend at his will and harry is often seen muttering to himself in a language that should not be possible for the human tongue. the ghosts avoid him like the plauge.
au where tom riddle, frustrated with not knowing where the chamber of secrets is, storms off into the forbidden forest under the cover of night. using stars to light his way, he hears something in the distance.
au where tom riddle discovers harry evans reanimating the corpse of a unicorn. the rest of the herd had long since fled the moment they felt the magic leaking out of harry.
au where tom watches in horrified fascination as the unicorn’s body begins to rise. its head jerks up before the rest of the body has a chance to keep up. its leg joints crack sickeningly, all in the wrong directions. a dark, wet tongue falls out of its mouth, drooling over the forest floor. its horn is noticeably missing, as are its eyes.
We're all aware that Voldy had horcruxes, but like, what if they were people and had separate personalities?
Starting simple, Tom's diary. The diary was meant to lure people, it was endearing, people trust it. Maybe if it was a person, it would be rather attractive, hence the luring, it would be kind and caring, maybe a bit secretive though, it is a diary after all.
Nagini. Nagini was cursed to turn to a snake, but the girl used that to their advantage and joined a circus, maybe that means that this Tom would find the silver lining. Voldy went to the snake when he was weak, which could mean that this Tom would be a person good with comforting or helping Harry. Nagini was loyal, devoted, meaning that maybe this Tom would be as well.
Rowena Raven claws diadem. Her Diadem was stolen by her daughter, meaning that this Tom is probably greedy. Her daughter was jealous, meaning that maybe Tom would get jealous too, I.E, not like it when the other horcruxes spend too much time with Harry, etc. He was described as being arrogant about the whole situation, but he was also smart about it, meaning this Tom would probably be arrogant and smart.
Hufflepuffs Cup. Hufflepuffs Cup was owned by the Hufflepuffs, obviously. Loyal, fair, and Hardworking. Hufflepuffs are typically kinder, more gentle, meaning I totally see this Tom being very soft with Harry, devoted, gentle, kind, etc. Also, he can probably cook well since Hufflepuffs are by the kitchen, added bonus I suppose.
Slytherins locket. Slytherin's locket was hidden under a potion that caused the person who drank it to experience their worst memories, fears, like a nightmare. It brought great dread, just the thought of drinking it made people frightened, it also forced the drinker to either drink the water from the lake or die. I could see this Tom being very intimidating given the fear that occurs, scary, cunning, etc. Also, I see him being very aggressively loving if that makes sense. Like, "you look bad, go to sleep." Or something, cold, calculating, yet still loving.
Marvelo Gaunts ring. The ring was very, very expensive. It was highly valued, it was subtle yet elegant. One of the most well known owners of the ring given it's very long heritage was the same person who wanted the resurrection stone. He ended up ending his life to be reunited with the one he loved. Given this information, I can see this Tom being incredibly dramatic and gaudy, maybe a bit greedy, but also very devoted and loving, very much a gentleman.
Even better if Harry has no idea how the fuck there are all this many Tom's and why they're all trying to date him.
Tom had never cared much for the mermaids that drifted in and out of view beyond the Slytherin common room’s underwater viewing panels
Not even as a first year, covertly eager and briefly enchanted only to find them, in his opinion, the ugliest creatures he had ever had the displeasure of observing
Over the years, they would pass the glass in slow, aimless currents, weaving through the darkness with a kind of grotesque grace that left him faintly queasy despite himself
And so, with the same disciplined ease he applied to most things, he learned to ignore the floor to ceiling panes entirely. To the best of his ability, flawless, as always
But tonight, as he sat reading by the fire, his eyes drifted toward the water beyond the glass
Not deliberately. Almost as if something had tugged them there, out in the depths something moved
A lean figure half hidden by the dark slipped into view with unhurried precision
At first, only the eyes were clear, starkly green, almost translucent in the shifting water, fixed directly on him, releasing bursts of magic that went straight to his head, as though the glass separating them was nothing at all
Then the rest followed
A tail of scales unfurled behind it like a mermaid’s, yet unlike any he had seen before it was threaded with frost toned metallic hues that caught the faint light in shifting unnatural mesmerizing glimmers
But it was the expression on the creature’s face that halted his musings
It stood in sharp contrast to what one might expect to see on a beautifully carved celestial figure
Unmistakably and miserably helpless
Tom had no choice but to make it his sole mission to make sure he sees it smile
So whatever it wanted tom will make sure to provide
Writing Prompt: Soulmate Tomarry AU where you don’t know who your soulmate is until the other dies and both gain eachothers name on their hand. This leaves Voldemort in a bit of a pickle when he kills Harry in the clearing in DH.
Harry is new to the whole ordeal of magical traditions, especially the ancient and darker ones. When he finds out that older slytherins plan to sneak out of the castle during samhain and cast some rituals on their own he and his friends decide to slip in and see what the big deal is. All goes well until Harry and Tom accidentally entangle themselves into one.
LTRN fan anon here. Couldn't resist leaving you a prompt:
Let The Right One In AU: Instead of destroying Diary Tom or redeeming him, Harry decides to 'manage' him. Basically, Harry sees no difference between Tom and a carnivorous predator, which must feed on others to survive.
It is heavily implied that to become corporeal, the shard in the Diary must drain another's soul. Since it's a kids' book, Rowling couldn't explore the more gruesome aspects of this activity.
In this AU Diary Tom is kind of like a Dementor (a much prettier one, though!). He subsists on draining other people's souls and essence, leaving them an empty shell, kind of like the dried, grotesque, brittle, and shrivelled husks the victims are reduced to in the 1990s movie 'The Mummy.'
Tom can temporarily come out of the Diary and drain many people around the Malfoy's Wiltshire estate. As the bodies pile up, Lucius decides to dispose of the diary.
The diary ultimately ends up in Harry's hands, and in the Chamber, he sees putting Lockhart (whom he has dragged along) in a trance and draining him.
It is terrifying and nauseating how clinical and ruthless Tom is about the entire thing. Harry recoils.
But he also thinks about how he saw a lion prey upon a gazelle in the Discovery documentaries. Seeing the gazelle's head come off clean had made him sick, but what was a lion to do? He gotta eat.
Harry decides he will not destroy the Diary. Nor will he try and 'redeem' Tom, as the shard, unlike humans, is unable to eat anything other than people's souls...
He will manage him. Instead of targeting innocents, he will bring Tom sustenance from people who murder and rape.
"You will be my new Keeper?" Tom asks him, his eyes bright and shining with happiness.
Harry nods resolutely.
P.S.: Tom can't become human until he absorbs other Horcruxes. Till then, Harry will have to bring him 'food'.
This looks delightful! 🙌 It's certainly tempting, but you seem to have put a lot of thought and effort into it so I'm sure you'd be able to do it more justice than I ever could 🫶
Tomarry - Same time-line AU - crack treated seriously
Tom doesn't know Harry at all until he's notified there's fiction being written about him and upon reading out of curiosity he's appalled by how he's written with this Harry person. Obsessive, possessive and downright smitten, as if he would ever waste his time on someone like that. Which leads to him finding out who Harry is only for him to end up interested in the exact same ways in the fic.
Might already exist idk lemme know if you know any fics similar??? I love silly but serious shit
