Oh totally! That was great. Exactly what you'd want from a finale! ;) (no but the actual finale really was quite great, for the most part)
It was almost worse that the final week was so good! It was suddenly so fresh and efficient and emotional again, as soon as we started switching characters! It reminded me how much I loved Skam and how good this season could have been. But Week Nine was... largely a waste of time where characters went around asking “where’s noora???” and “how are noora and william doing???” and “you know who’s beautiful? noora” and I’ve never quite recovered from that. My soul perished that week. 💨

all these near-homicidal ;) emoticons are KILLING ME don't remind me of HELL
There isn’t an emoticon that can come anywhere close to capturing how I feel about Week Nine. ;)

you are me ciara! i actually just passed my test today when i did it for the 3rd time. first two times were horrible. i was just so done w/ practicing and the tests and luckily i just hit the sweet spot today. and if i can do it, i'm sure you will be able to pass it soonish too! <3333
ahh congrats, laura!!! that’s so amazing, well done <33 and thank you, i hope so!!!! i have my test booked, i’m just waiting on a date now. the problem for me is that there’s certain maneuvers etc you have to do for your test that you’ll never have to do irl (like reverse around a corner) and asdjfh if i fail over some stupid thing like that i’ll be so frustrated bc i know i can drive even if i only intend to drive to work/the gym/the shop once i actually get my full licence. but yeah hopefully i’ll be done with it soon too <3

this week, we’re reccing family-themed fics. Today’s fic is a short oneshot. If you like it, please consider leaving it some love in the form of kudos/comments!

"Dad's recipe, there's sour cream in it. That's the secret behind the magic".
Even's father's perspective on his son.
Notes & Ramblings:
This is a short narrative of Even’s life to date from the pov of his father, done in second person pov, and has the feel of a character study. It was inspired by one line of dialogue in the original script, and it’s amazing how that one line was fleshed out in a way that brings Even’s father vibrantly to life.
This fic is incredibly heart warming. It feels very much in character that Even would come from a home filled with love and care, and that’s beautifully shown here, as his father’s love is so clearly woven through every passage.
Even’s father’s descriptions of his son’s kindness and his worries for his health and happiness are poignant and incredibly moving, as is his sense of guilt and responsibility for Even’s illness.
It’s fascinating and sweet to see Even’s relationship develop with Isak from a parent’s perspective.
Favorite Lines:
No wonder Even has fallen for him. He’s always gone for the down-to-the-bone kind people. It’s in the making of his own bones.
i'm personally not really into skam france and haven't really watched since the first episode but i'm glad i'm not the only one who is really bothered by the overuse of music. what skam was soooo good at was taking the TIME, taking SILENCE for what it is and play it out. music was only included if it added anything and not the outro a clip.
Absolutely. There’s been so much praise for Skam’s music, rightfully so, but Skam also knew when to shut up and let the silence speak for itself. There are just as many scenes that I remember for how quiet they were and how they integrated pauses and slowness, or let the acting stand on its own. And a lot of clips just ended on silence, and began with silence, and it worked.
The overuse of music in the remakes is actually undermining the emotional impact of certain scenes in the remakes. Not only that, it’s used so much that even when the music might be effective, we’re already getting numb to its use. I wish they would just let some of the scenes end silently and not feel like they have to outro a clip, though I do wonder how much of that has to do with wanting something to play over the credits. It makes you wonder how the remakes will handle some of the iconic scenes that are all dialogue - hopefully not by blasting music over them the whole time.
@toneelspeler niiice, and yeah Azur and Asmar is really good too (still a children movie tho)
