I’m just thinking about the fact that Tony had to listen to Hannah’s tapes all alone, with no one else there to support him. He probably got angrier and angrier as he went on, hearing about all of the awful things people did to Hannah... And then he got to Clay’s tape and was relieved to hear that there was just a little bit of light in Hannah’s story, even if it wasn’t enough to change how her story ended. He probably stuck around Clay once he got the tapes because he knew that Clay wasn’t like the others and that he was going to need a friend. He saw a kindred spirit in Clay and didn’t want Clay to be alone when he heard the tapes, like he was.
