that post about the panic attack got me thinking... It's clearer in the anime (i.e. breath speeding up, shoulders shaking), but what I find interesting, is how it b4 announced he lost, how surprised (and dare I say scared) he looked when Izu decided to take that hit instead of block it. I could def be reading this wrong, but I saw it as "holy shit he didn't block and he's really fucked up rn he did that to /just/ to win" & ofc it's also his 1st loss but I think there's more 2 it than that
Oh no, that is the EXACT vibe I have always gotten from that scene.
He didn't intend to hurt Izuku, he thought he would dodge, and he didn't. So to see the damage he caused, and then to realize ON TOP OF THAT, that he lost, was a crucial blow to his ego and conscious.
That face isn't just because he lost, I refuse to believe it, and I definitely think they did a fantastic job in the anime of getting more of Bakugo's emotions across in this scene. He lost, but he also hurt someone, and that wasn't really his intention. He wanted to beat him, sure, but cause harm like that? Nah.
This is gonna be a bit long lmao
Look at that emotion, in both of their faces.
Desperation, fear, envy, confusion, pain.
This was their first battle on even playing ground, and Bakugo lost completely. Not only did he lose, but he hurt Deku, too. Aside from his pride, I personally feel another big reason Bakugo left before Deku got out of the nurses office was because of shame. He lost, and he injured him. This was an exercise meant to be heroes vs villains, but Bakugo only saw himself vs Deku, he didn't care about the exercise.
He let himself get clumsy and big headed, which muddled his mission and ended up with him causing damage when it wasn't his intention. He just wanted to win, to be the best again, but it was already too late for that. The moment Deku was able to stand in the ring, Bakugo's image of himself was always destined to crumble.
I think I got off track but my point is, yes I believe he was surprised and remorseful that he injured Deku. I don't believe it was intentional, no matter how vicious he was acting.
ahhh your lil drabbles are bringing me so much warmth and happiness!!!!! I keep meaning to read "Here, Here" but I wanna do it in one sitting and haven't had the time ;A; but I'm so excited for it!!!
Owww! Thank you, hon. It brings me happiness to write them and share them with you guys. I'm actually working on your request right now! Don't think I won't write another fluffy Bakudeku for you.
I can't believe "Here, Here" is finished, and like, people can binge read it. That story is like my baby, but I know it's long, so take your time. I hope you like it and let me know when you read it. 🤗
i would like it known that you can love and hate dynamight at the same time a;sldkfjalk;sfj
Yes my dear Char, you are right indeed
That is my relationship with it currently, I will continue to shit on the name constantly, but I love that Bakugou is a huge ass stupid little nerd thst decided he wanted to be known as Dynamight.
And it suits him for that reason lmao
A lil bit of courage to your animal anons, I started off sending Kuro anon messages for quite a while, was too nervous to ~reveal~ myself...but LOOK AT US NOW BABYYYYY screaming about bkdk late into the night and yelling at you for tryin to put sugar in iida's leggies
EHYEAAAH!!
Char is absolutely incredible and these last two months have been absolutely amazing because she’s been a part of my life. I am so fucking glad every day that we started talking, and I wouldn’t change a thing about it. The friendships I’ve made through this will stay with me for a long time, and I am so, so grateful for it.
Also
them legs are gettin sugared whether you like it or not
So I'm curious about your thoughts on this! Bkg in hero costume is very confident, stands tall, head hell high, but when he's in regular clothing he's generally slumped, hands in pockets, completely closed off. It makes me think about who he THINKS he should be "a strong hero who never loses" vs who he feels he is "weak and struggling". And it could be read as Bkg not caring about how he's perceived, but body language is super important and his reads almost like forced calmness
This is a really good observation, and I've noticed it, too.
I obviously can't say for sure if there's any actual meaning behind the differences between his behavior in casual clothing vs his hero costume, but I do know that the way he comes off in casual clothes tends to produce more of an approachable feeling, almost.
Yeah, we know he is a hardass foul-mouthed little shit, but look at how he's sitting so slack and his pants are barely up and hey, he barely looks awake. We can take this time to approach him.
Whether it's a conscious effort and whether that calmness is forced, I feel like he actually tries to seem more approachable, even if his attitude comes out when he's spoken to. And it isn't that he doesn't want to be approachable in his hero costume, but he has a job to do when he has that costume on, so he takes it incredibly serious and there's not much room for light heartedness.
In casual attire, he can be teased and jostled, his classmates can stand shoulder to shoulder with him. I think, maybe it's even how he humbles himself. He's always thought he was better than people, so maybe that more approachable side of him is a way to tell himself
"You're not hot shit, dumbass, and if you always act like it, no ones gonna talk to you."
And so he slouches and looks tired and let's himself down off that pedestal, which also helps to show him he shouldn't be on it in the first place.
But the moment that hero costume is on, you bet your ass it's do or die, and he's not fucking around. That's when his dream comes into play, and he can't risk losing out so his friends can joke around with him. That can wait until he's not in hero gear anymore and he's back in sweats and a tangtop, and the funniest thing is, I feel like everyone gets that.
Bakugo is a leader, and the class follows him, especially when he's in a battle situation and he's garbed out in that costume, because that costume is a part of who he is a hero, so his attitude has to follow.
So yeah I have no idea if I made sense, but that's my feelings on it!!! Thanks for wanting my opinion!
