Toolkit Tip: Keeping in Synch
Do your courses seem to have disappeared off your iPhone?
Are they on your iPhone but not your iPad?
Have you moved or renamed fences in the toolkit but the fences haven’t changed on your iPhone course?
Have you added dressed photos and audio out on course on your iPhone and want them to appear in the online map on your website?
The answer is to synchronise (Upload/Download) the course between your CrossCountry App which runs standalone on your iPhone/iPad and the Toolkit, which runs in the cloud on your iPhone, iPad or PC.
Am I in the app or the toolkit?
It can be confusing at first.
If you are working on your PC or Macbook you are always in the Toolkit.
If you are on your iPhone or iPad you could be in either the CrossCountry App or the Toolkit or simply viewing the course online.
If you can see Minute Markers you are in the CrossCountry App (see below)
If you see the green distance and efforts box, you are in the Toolkit Editor
If you see the icons across the bottom you are either in the Toolkit Viewer or looking at the course online because you clicked through from the library or on a link someone sent you
So how do I synchronise?
This depends on whether the most recent version of the course is in your CrossCountry App or in the Toolkit
Scenario 1
My most recent version of the course is on the CrossCountry App because I just went out on course and added photos and audio with the course designer.
So you need to upload the course from your app to the Toolkit. This will replace (overwrite) the old version in the Toolkit and you will not be able to go back to that old version. Any changes you have made will be seen by people you have shared the link with or will appear automatically on your website if you already embedded and published the course.
Open the course
Click the Share button
Click Upload
If you want to create a new version you need to choose Duplicate
If you have already embedded the course on your website or shared the link to e.g. your fence judges, if you create a duplicate you must re-embed or re-send the new link.
Scenario 2
My most recent version of the course is on the Toolkit because I just added fence names.
You should download the course to your CrossCountry App so that it has the new information
Go to toolkit.crosscountryapp.com on your iPhone or iPad.
Find and open the course
You will see a little cloud icon. This does not appear on your PC. It only appears on a device which has got the CrossCountry App installed.
Click the cloud icon. The course will download to CrossCountry App. If an older version was already on the app it will be overwritten.
