Lmao i did actually think about putting that on the polls when I first started cause there’s def a number of cartoons ive seen waaaay too many times than need be lmaooo however i kinda wanted these to be real simple and more for a data-like curiosity on how many people have seen/finished a media vs how many have not or dont even know what it is but hey! If you wanna tell me how many times yall have seen a show feel free to comment it on the post it’ll be fun lol! I personally have seen all of Danny Phantom like three times, Xiaolin Showdown twice, OTGW like every other Halloween since it came out, and Ouran in both languages so many times i stopped counting lmaoo and thats not even getting into the real autism series that i rewatch every other month iouy67tguyhijo

it's so funny to observe the Miraculous Ladybug thing from the outside as someone with like. 15+ years of experience in the fandom of Code Lyoko, another French show with a LOT of talent overlap that actually was like. pretty good? consistently? but also, critically, it had a plan that it executed across four seasons and they always had an ending in mind. miraculous' writers do not appear to have that and it seems to be weighing on them

SEE THATS MY THING! Code Lyoko (based taste mootie) is a fucking amazing show and where the writing isn't constantly perfect they are still able to balance the characters and the stories and everything REALLY well. and characters like Sissy are still treated like the children they are and not like irredeemable evil incarnate

But ML where it has SO many good and interesting ideas in story, characters, and even world building lore, it really does feel like some of it is just pulled out their ass. And then comparing Chloe's story to Sissy's like just hurts my heart. Chloe was one of my top fave characters in the early seasons cause she was SO interesting and they just went. yeah we dont care enough about her to actually redeem her and give her a story LOL fuck you. even Lyra who i dont like i still think doesnt deserve to be some secret weird villain that seems SO 180 compared to her early show appearances like there is NO lead up imo

ML is full of big ideas but some clear confusion or uncertainty on how they actually wanna pull it all off or show it in the series. and im not gonna say it NEVER has any pay off at all but there are def some moments where it really feels like i waited in line for a million years and all i got was this teeshirt

and another fucked up that eggman initially created sage to be an useful tool ai which while he does treat her as his daughter, sage is fully onboard of being an useful tool to ensure eggman's conquest of the world, that's not a good mentality for a kid like her for her to have

yeah like i will say i think sage is also way more complex as a character than just being "a kid" like she wasnt made with the mentality of a child and her looking like one is just coincidence iirc like she learns love and family through watching sonic and his friends and starts craving that for herself (the reasonings behind it are a larger thing and also complex as fuck)

im not sure if the mentality of being a tool is really something that would affect sage the same way it would an actual human child. it would affect her for sure but it isnt a learned mindset its a programed one, anything past that was learned because shes an ai shes made to learn and develop she just happened to do that by watching sonic and she learned and evolved to develop feelings and emotions

like definitely something to talk about for sure, but again, we cant treat her story or metals story as one note child abuse cause thats just not the case. are things great for them? fuuuuck no. are things irredeemably horrible? also no not at all

theres a lot that can be said and theorized and taken from these characters and how they act and react to eggman, sonic, different situations and all kinds of shit

like if you compare sage to belle, belle was made to be a daughter almost. she was made to be a helper and family. but sage was only made as a tool and wants more. metal was made as a tool and eggman naturally developed more feelings and metal accepts them in the ways he does. like all these characters are very interesting and diverse in their stories and relationships with eggman and even each other id think
