Too open?

I’ve fairly recently moved back to one of my favorite cities, lets call it Aeroton. The city itself is a decent size with a large river cutting it in half but that's not really the focus here. I’ve been trying to reconnect with the people I knew that still live here. So far I’ve had some success, one person that I meet with about once a month for coffee to catch up and talk, another who I hang out with every week and one every once in a while. But recently I tried to reconnect with a close friend that I had lost contact with. The results were not so good, he moved 30 minutes out of town and hadn’t changed what so ever. Normally this wouldn't bother me since I love stability, if it doesn’t have to change then it doesn’t, but he doesn’t have a job, doesn’t want to even attempt going to college or university until he knows what he wants to do and talks about his views from five years ago. I could understand the not having a job since he has some leg issues that have been around since I first met him but the university part bothered me. I love knowledge plain and simple. He wouldn’t really listen when I told him he could do a semester of arts and take a broad range of courses to figure out what he wanted to do or even just talk to a recruiter who might be able to give him an idea. At this point, I was ready to politely leave and maybe hang out another day but I figured I’d talk with him a bit more. This is when he started to open up a bit too much with talk of wanting a furry suit. That’s correct dear reader, he wants a furry suit so he can create a furry persona or “fur-sona” as he called it. Now I understand that everyone has their kinks and this may not even be sexual but I don’t think its cool to just start talking about that in a public place with someone who you haven’t seen in five years. Maybe I’m the weird one for thinking this is strange but I didn’t lead him into that topic or anything, he just brought it up himself. but, whatever...
