Ingredients: 1 lb ground sausage meat. 4 oz mozzarella cheese, cut into 4 equal cubes. 2 tsp black pepper, freshly ground. 1 tsp salt. 4 burger buns. 4 lettuce leaves. 4 tomato slices. 4 red onion slices. 4 tbsp mayonnaise. 4 tsp Dijon mustard. 4 tsp ketchup. 4 tsp olive oil.
Instructions: Divide the ground sausage meat into 4 equal portions. Take each portion and flatten it into a patty on a clean surface. Place a cube of mozzarella cheese in the center of each patty. Fold the sausage meat around the cheese to encase it completely and form a burger patty. Season each patty with freshly ground black pepper and salt on both sides. Preheat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat and lightly oil the grates or surface. Place the sausage patties on the grill or skillet and cook for about 5-6 minutes per side, or until fully cooked and the cheese is melted. While the patties are cooking, toast the burger buns on the grill or in a toaster until lightly browned. Spread mayonnaise on the bottom half of each toasted bun and Dijon mustard on the top half. Assemble the burgers by placing a lettuce leaf on the bottom bun, followed by a tomato slice, a sausage patty, and a slice of red onion. Drizzle each patty with ketchup and place the top bun on top.
