We have the ability to alter pictures to the point that we can make our faces and bodies unrecognizable. We have even gone as far as to change what we believe because we cannot fathom something being beautiful without enhancing! It is this change that makes it neccessary to have someone back up the fact that this is indeed real.
Every society has chosen to take the natural world and recreate it through a variety of art forms. I believe this ability to make every photograph an even more personal interaction a great way to interact with the world around us however I do do worry sometimes that we may be trying to improve more than appreciate it.
Many societies use their artwork to convey stories or relationships and have symbols that subsequently represent that. From the Austrailian aboriginal artwork to Leslie Millar's encaustic works we have not only seen different societies interactions with nature but their reason for interacting in their chosen manner.
After all of the societies we've seen, I sincerely hope we don't leave the impression of this never ending attempt to improve earth but instead learn to awe at its beauty.
