'Book Path (Colour)'

If I have learned one thing this semester it is the pure connection between nature and its creatures, one of which is us. As part of an ecosystem it is essential we learn to coexist with other important members of our delicate world for the wellbeing and longevity of our species.
We regularly complain about any other being that is infringing on our lives or on the ecosystem. One example is our relationship with deer. The ravish the lands to the point of ruin and starvation we say, and condone the killing and sterilization of their species. Have they become overpopulated in many areas absolutely, did we play a major role in that by wiping out their predators without a doubt, but we cannot do anything about that, now we must focus on the overpopulation problem. We have become numb to the issues we cause and have a deal with it later mentality. Climate change, species extinction and overconsumption of nonrenewable resources do not lend themselves to even remotely quick fixes. Our mentality needs to change fast.
Through the readings as well as experiences this semester I have a much less convoluted mindset than I had at the beginning. Through witnessing the art of others as well as taking part in our own we have seen the numerous ways individuals interact with nature the world over. Even with all of these different ideals in place I do not doubt the that has only increased over the course of this semester in regards to the impact we need to chose to have on the environment.
As with anything in life we each have a choice, to be passive or active in the pursuit towards a goal. We can choose to not be apart of the problem and do nothing but in the case of the damage that has been done this is not good enough. We are knowledgable and with that knowledge we comes power and opportunity and have no excuse to be anything other than actively part of a sustainable relationship.
