@three-antlered-deer Ty!! Haha omg I was legit giggling to myself when drawing this page. The joke of Tora as Black Bandit slowly transforming into the Melandru performer while arguing with himself was way too much fun :D

I, uh, oh god okay you're gonna laugh at me but my brain sees a comment like this and just fixates on it in a dumb panicky way. Like "oh god it's cause I've been drawing him extra busty in that outfit isn't it" "oh no the truth is gonna disappoint people oh no oh no" I mean you're not the only person who's pointed out his er... top. Look, I drew him, ok? I know what I did.

We have indeed seen most of his chest multiple times! In his regular outfit no less, but you'd be forgiven for not noticing because I've simply never drawn/shaded his chest in a way that calls much attention to it. You can see it quite a bit in I Dream Of Blu!

(There's also a couple drawings on this blog somewhere with him shirtless but they're old and make me cringe)

And alas there's the tragic truth: Tora is not secretly well-endowed, he's part of the itty bitty titty committee. Granted he's not completely flat (again my lack of shading in this episode makes him look flatter than he is) but he's not busty. The busty Tora in the current episode is a straight up lie.

Heck, the original design for Lady Tora wasn't as busty as the final rendition!

Not gonna show the full thing, that's a Patreon exclusive, but hopefully you see what I mean? Technically that's more what his chest should naturally look like in that dress.

So how'd this happen? I ended up changing parts of the design on the fly when he finally showed up as Lady Tora. I felt like he wasn't enough of an absolute knockout so I changed up his hair, softened his makeup, made that boob window more scandalous and gave him a bit of cleavage.

The idea behind this disguise was that he just used a lot of fashion tape or something to force some amount of cleavage out of what little he has. Or called in a favor with some unknown Mesmer contact - the how didn't really matter? The result is the same, he looks like he has more booba than he actually does.

I'm ready to talk about something I've been working on for a long time...

APOCALYPSE CHILD: A New Original Webcomic

I've been working on this project semi-secretly for awhile now, and I finally have enough work done on it that I feel confident and ready to share with you all what I'm working on.

What is Apocalypse Child?

It's a whole new original webcomic separate from Guild Wars 2 and Tora Steals Things ( @torasteals​ ). Almost every artist I know has a passion project or two that's been with them from their childhood and this one is mine. I've been world building and developing it for years, and I finally started the script for it roughly a year ago. It's near and dear to my heart and I'm both elated and terrified to even let you all know that it even exists.

Is it anything like Tora Steals Things?

No. Oh no this is a completely different beast...

Tora Steals Things is an episodic and mostly comedic series with a few darker stories here and there.

Apocalypse Child is an adventure story with an actual overarching plot, far less goofs and gags, and a generally more serious tone.

What's it about?

A nerdy archeologist, who wants to be a father, tries to raise a strange kid who might bring the world to ruin. That's its most basic premise.

In more detail...

Apocalypse Child is a story about Thunder, a mysterious and terrifyingly powerful boy who may be the most dangerous creature alive; Buzz Clarwin, the nerdy archeologist trying desperately to raise him as his own out of the kindness of his heart; and Roy Ilzura, a runaway Prince and the archeologist's best friend who is trying to save him from his newfound "son."

The three travel the world together - trying to piece together the mystery behind Thunder while exploring ancient magic ruins, fending off assailants from a secret society hellbent on murdering the boy, and discovering hidden truths about their world's long dead Gods.

If you like modern fantasy settings, ancient ruins, found family dynamics, fight scenes (lots of them), pretty boys (...look I'm not gonna deny it), elemental powers and races, and road trips (no I'm not kidding) - then this is probably your jam.

Cool so when can I read it?

There's no release date for this yet, but I can tell you where it is in development:

16 chapters of the first draft are finished

3 chapters are more or less ready for thumbnails

77% of the character designs are done for chapter 1

60% of the environment designs are done for chapter 1

Once the design work is done, I should be able to move into thumbnails and finally start the first chapter.

And from this day onwards, you'll actually get to see all this design work as I continue development!

What does this mean for Tora Steals Things?

It means a lot of things, but namely it means a change in its current update schedule. TST is now going to be updated every two weeks instead of every week, starting today. (It'll still be two weeks early for patrons on my patreon though)

This wasn't an easy decision to make, but it's one that had to be done. I've been trying to work on both Apocalypse Child and Tora Steals Things at the same time which simply wasn't working. TST eats up a lot of my time and doesn't leave a lot of room for other projects. In order for any of my other work to shine, it needs to take a backseat.

What can I expect to see in the future and where?

Changing TST's schedule to a bi-weekly one actually opens up possibilities for me on what I have time to work on. It means not only will I have more time for Apocalypse Child, but also other art. Here's what you can expect going forward:

Apocalypse Child Design Work:

This includes character design sheets, environment sketches, and concept art. I have a lot of this already so you can expect to see that here as early as next week.

New (and Old) Art:

Ever since starting Tora Steals Things, I've been hesitant to share any art not related to it which has resulted in me sitting on just a ton of art that no one beyond close friends have seen. Some of this art is a decade old! You can expect to see this art finally released for viewing here.

I'll also be making new illustrations going forward so you can expect to see those too.

(Some of this art is NSFW btw, but those will only be posted to twitter just FYI)

Also there isn't a strict schedule for these like the comic, but you can expect to see something every week as usual - it just won't always be the comic like before.

Going Forward

As an artist I'm changing my direction and expanding what I create and share with you all. It's incredibly liberating to finally share with you some of the work I've been doing in secret for years, and I hope you're all as excited for it as I am.

I'm ready to talk about something I've been working on for a long time...

YO! So if you’ve been following me here, you may be aware that I hinted at some upcoming changes to the Patreon and here it is!

These changes won’t affect Tora Steals Things updates for another week or so and I’ll be basically posting this exact announcement properly then (but with some more details for what you’ll see from me if you’re not a patron and where you’ll see my work etc.), but if you’d like to see what’s coming up a bit early... the official announcement about my upcoming project and how it’ll affect Tora Steals Things going forward is already up on Patreon and publicly available for everyone (patron or not) to read.

Again, like, the post only really addresses what patrons can expect from me in the future. Next week, I’ll go in more detail on here and let y’all know where you can find my work, and what to expect etc etc etc.

Also about my health for those of you concerned:

Thank you for your get well notes and such! I should be fine? It seems I really fudged up a nerve in my neck and it’s likely from my working posture at my desk. Don’t be like me, kids, make sure you get your working station properly set up so that you don’t hurt yourself by leaning over your tablet all the time.

I’ve actually been dealing with chronic pain issues around my neck, right arm, and right breast from all this since November. It has not been a fun time for sure but I think, after many doctor visits and a lot of physiotherapy and yoga, I’m finally starting to get better.

Thanks again for your concern, as I said, I’ll be fine :)

Story: In our continued dedication to the people of Tyria, the Lion’s Arch chronicle has put together an easy to read guide on the most common types of destroyers being seen and our ratings on how dangerous they are to engage in combat.Please note that this is a general guide and is not to be used as motivation to fight destroyers unprovoked and is a guide for whether one should fight or run in situations where it is possible.

Destroyer Troll: A general infantry type dragon minion, resistant to burning, not too intelligent as a general rule but fairly hardy. These are extremely common and your willingness to engage in combat should be determined by the number present and your own skillset. Maybe keep a bucket of water on hand as a last resort, we can’t confirm that it will do anything but it’s worth a shot. Danger rating: 6/10

Destroyer Crab: Smaller and more abundant destroyer crabs can easily overwhelm anyone who isn’t prepared for them. They can create lava fonts and breathe fire that can cause serious damage to anyone who underestimates these creatures due to their small size. Treat them with extreme caution when engaging. Danger rating: 8/10

Destroyer Fiend: This airborne type of destroyer can be one of the most dangerous in one on one combat and this danger increases as the number of fiends increases. With a wide range of fire attacks and their speed in the air if you aren’t capable of doing damage to it from a distance engage with the most caution of all. Danger rating 10/10.

While these mentioned are the most common; there can be a large range of Destroyer strengths and variations so gauge your willingness and ability to confront these creatures with care.

I made the official Tora Steals Things site at the end of 2018, and now that we’re coming onto the comic’s 4th year anniversary in March, I think it’s time for all future updates to live there.

Having its own site means having more control over the comic’s presentation, cleaner organization for the archives, better handling of comments, and just an overall greater reading experience for the comic!

What happens to this account?

I’ll still be here to post reminders about comic updates and other announcements related to the comic! So stick around for those - I know it’s hard to remember when webcomics update ;) and I’d definitely appreciate a reblog or two of those updates (maybe just one, let’s not be silly)

I’ll be opening questions so you can send me asks here or over at griffinblogsgw2 as per usual.
