The Personality.
Dahlia, as easy-going as she seems, is someone you better don't mess with. Not in the sense that you should avoid her or not make eye-contact but she's the kind of person who will give you a side-eye before talking to you whether you come in peace or not. She often seems reserved, maybe even a little standoffish but it usually comes from a place of insecurity and mistrust. However, with her being rather level-headed and practical, she's a perfect problem solver and tends to know what she's doing - at least on a more superficial level. She's loyal and honest, sometimes painfully so but if you need her, you can count on her. No matter what.
The Past.
Born and raised without much to her family's name, Dahlia grew up as the only child of two young parents who weren't exactly sure how to even be that but tried their best with what they had to offer early on. Working hard to keep the small family fed, she spent her childhood living in a trailer along with a lot of people she'd grow up alongside with and stick to for as long as she can remember.
She was always a creative person, picking up hobbies quickly but never quite burning for anything at all - whether it was instruments, painting or sports - at some point, Dahlia always came out of it bored and not exactly motivated to keep going. Her parents tried their best to keep her involved and engaged but most of the time, she'd find a reason to drop out of whatever club she joined.
Granted, she was by far no grade a student but school at least gave her some structure when she was lacking it at home, keeping her on track and on the road towards getting her high school diploma, just to sit on it for years and years to come.
Moving out seemed like a good idea at first but when the question of college popped up, it wasn't so much of a question where she'd go but what she'd even want to major in. She considered several courses all at once but ultimately, ended up not deciding on anything. She started a summer job as an arcade attendant instead, that'd soon turn into her main source of income.
After following through with her parents' wish to at least try to apply to college, she soon buried their dream by getting turned down and showing them the tuition she'd need to pay for. It never really bothered her that she didn't get to go - when you had a comfortable and familiar place to stay and your friends right there to walk the road of life along with you, why would you ever want to leave?
She'd always loved the arcade and she'd always loved the small town she'd grown up in - even if some didn't quite seem to understand why she'd decided to stay but with her friends and family there, she didn't feel like she was missing much of anything and therefore turned her summer job into a full time job.
The Present.
Dahlia has been working at the arcade for quite some time now and sometimes can't help but wonder if that was it for her. While she loves her job most of the time, she does crave having more control (and money) and is currently working towards a management position, mainly because she wants to oversee her hours a little more to make time for her friends and hobbies if needed.
She has the drive for it and the ambitions but even someone like Dahlia, who is usually strong-willed and well aware of what she wants and needs from life, struggles with the choices she made every now and then. Right now, she can't help but wonder if this vibe is forever but tries her best to enjoy the ride.
In her spare time, Dahlia likes to play music, go to shows of any kind and find new ways to remind her roommates of how lucky they are to live with someone like her. When she's not busy doing that, she can often be found roaming around the many art fairs and galleries around town.
