Tori was changing in his room, getting out of her work clothes and into something nicer to go out in, humming along with the music in the living room. She had her top off, and was reaching back to remove her bra, singing along a little louder now.
She didn’t notice the knock, nor realize her singing had possibly sounded like come in instead of come on.
It took her a few moments to notice the eyes on her before she tugged her halter top down the spun to see Eddie, her cheeks burning with color. “I didn’t hear you!” she squeaked.
Her breath caught as the room turned cold. How had it happened? Nothing had triggered it and she was fine five minutes ago? Tori’s legs turned to jelly as she tried to breathe deep, and ended up sliding to the floor, her back to the cabinets.
Dinner would burn. Eddie would be mad. The night would be ruined. Everything slapped at her. It hit her then. She’d run out of eggplant and it was integral to her dish. So of course she had panicked, was panicking still. Tears coursed down her face as she held herself, trying to stop it.
Then Eddie was there. Not touching her. Not coming close. He just spoke. He had her. He didn’t need to touch her. Tori listened to him. Calmed slowly. Then crossed the distance to hug him finally.
