Peaceful.

Regulations probably made the city far more bearable to breathe in.

My choices were this town square or one of the back rooms of the factory. They would have taken a tour. I went with this. ... The following week, we did the ghost sidequest, where NPCs noted moaning noises coming from the back rooms...

I was so happy with this pose that I immediately re-used one of its variants in a Destiny locale.

A cozy cottage... Warm stew... A fire that makes even a chewing face look kind of handsome.

Bits past the cut reference Rebirth's story a little.

(And also I consider axing this description to put in the AO3 collection instead.)

The smokestacks of Petnadjanka didn't look so inviting, so they turned away.

The next town is quite a journey away if they don't want to take a raft down the river. Which... obviously, they don't. That raft from hell would turn Leon's stomach inside out.

So they spend a while resting here, enjoying the peace and relative privacy, and mapping out where to forage for hopefully enough food to last the trip over the mountains.

They may have found out the hard way which mushrooms were poisonous. Leon's full, uncontrollable laugh was...! Stahn would probably wish he could have heard it without it being partially masked by his own, but the sound together was also nice. But he hopes to hear it for real one day instead of forced out by an odd stimulant. (Maybe Leon has to be on guard and protect his sides from hands poised to tickle.)

And by the time they reach Sunnytown, the party will have already been long gone and repairs will have already finished.
