    " Probably, " Wilford answers all too casually, slipping an arm around Tori's waist. He nestles right on in, resting his head on her shoulder with a little huff. This is all extremely frustrating for him. His own brother, a traitor. And while Mark still exists, making it a not-so-uncommon trope, he's still absolutely appalled.

He can't help but absently watch her screen as she scrolls down it, despite the scrunched up, unhappy look on his face. That doesn't seem to affect how nosy he is.

    " He's talking to that new ego I was telling you about, the uptight one with the-- all the rules? And he got mad at me for not being, you know, blind and noticing he has a crush on him. And then all of a sudden I'm wanted for murder and impersonation and fraud. " Which is a rather scary thought, even if he knows he'll never be properly put away for it.

    " ... I'm too gorgeous for prison, I think I'm a little worried. "

.... Don’t laugh, Ethan. Don’t laugh, you’re a professional right now. In order to distract himself he smooths his hands down his cassock, glancing as far away from Tori as possible. Goodness... 

Open houses were the most interesting, weren’t they? It took all types, really... Ethan had just hoped for janitorial staff to show up, but this lady, looking for a job for her fiance (or her fiance’s son, something to that affect).. she just blew the compitition out of the water, didn’t she? 

“I- I- I don’t find it p- particularly... sacreligious, no, it’s... p... p-p-preferred otherwise, but... I- I am sorry, about all... all the r-rules, um... d- do you have any... any questions, about th- th- them?”

“Lovely? You sure you’re not talking about yourself?”

Ell laughs, scooting close with a light yawn. Sure, she was out of her room earlier than usual, but if it meant snuggling up with Tori, she’d be okay with that. “Mm, just happened to be up today. Why? You complaining about cuddles?”

She's even in a relatively good mood still, why does he want to ruin that for her? Maybe they could fake a power outage somehow, and just go through the house in the dark until he's... completely healed and this is all over and done with. Yeah, that's completely feasible. How long does it take to heal a busted lip?

Still, Will manages to let out a half-hearted chuckle with that joke, giving her a light squeeze before falling silent again. Maybe he should start with the worse news and get that over with. " No, no, don't apologize. It's... probably better that you were out for the last few hours anyway. " Stressful night.

    " ... Ordinarily, this might end up being one of the things I tried to hide from you, but I still... I want to try the whole 'open and honest' thing with you. I'm trying to be better. " And truly he is, if only in that aspect, clearly. He falls silent for another brief moment.

   " Today I was... um... I was actually invited to... not... work for the railway anymore. Which is fine, you could just as easily look at it as an invitation to start working elsewhere, which I've been thinking about doing lately anyway, but... " That didn't sound as good as he wanted it to.

Oh-- well, he had been planning on going back and digging into his candy, finally, but this was good, too. At least, until he looks up and notices Tori's all teary and sad looking, even with that smile on her face.

She manages to distract him briefly with that bunny, and Florence giggles, playfully pushing at that little bunny. There are more important things to be dealing with here, though. Ms. Tori's got a sad face!

    " Ah, why! " He reaches his hands up, gently papping at Tori's cheeks. His next immediate attempt to make her happy is to grab his toy back and gently smush it against her face, in a mock attempt to recreate the tickling she'd just done to him. " Mommy be happy! "

Ooh. Colonel had, more or less, been expecting a reaction like that, though it still draws a slight flinch out of him. Not that he expects her to do anything to him; it's just... jarring to hear her speak like that. Tori doesn't swear at him... ever, really, and up until this point, he wasn't sure if she ever had. This was a bad one - and it should be. His mother's been back for two entire days, and he's... he hasn't introduced her to the love of his life.

    " Tori, no, I would never hide you, don't-- it's not like that. " That's a piss poor excuse. " You've just been busy with work, and she's been off with all her grandkids and Mark and Wilford, and my dad, and... " That's still not much of a better excuse. Will sighs, carding a hand through his hair. He hasn't put his damn hat back on for the entire time his mother's been here.

    " She knows that you exist. I didn't want to spoil anything real without you being present for the... spoiling. I thought we ought to tell her together. " He, almost reluctantly, rests a hand on her shoulder, giving it a squeeze. " I'm sorry, Tori, really. But she's absolutely going to love you. And she is going to be through the roof - in the best way - when she finds out about Bump down there. "

That's all he wanted. In theory, he could just pop up again and saunter back out to find his brother and let him hear the good news, but Tori seems... concerned, suddenly. Wilford pulls a bit of a face, but otherwise stays silent as she vents out all of her concerns at once. Poor thing.

    " I think you will definitely have kids soon; it's a little late for indefinites. " Punctuated with a nice, gentle pat to her belly. Hello, hellspawn. " No, no, I don't think you seem too busy. You're still young, though. A lot of young people would much rather focus on their careers than get into the family business immediately. They'd rather be set and secure before bringing children into the world. I myself am one of them. Just the first part though, I'm already set and secure. I'd just rather be a career man. "

Very bold calling yourself a young person, Wilford. He sticks by it nonetheless.

He reaches a hand up to cup Tori's cheek reassuringly, brushing his thumb across it as he does. " Just a simple question, dear. I didn't mean to fill your head full of worries. You seem like a combo mommy-wife just as much as you do a fruitful career-woman. And those don't have to be mutually exclusive, either. You're fine. "

Props to him for not immediately blurting out that Will was looking to find out, though. He's going to be proud.

    " Eh.... "

Part of him wants to say he isn't entirely sure himself, mostly because he still doesn't believe it, but the words are caught in his throat as he's pulled around and situated. Not that he minds that part one bit, especially since Tori ends up in his lap. Alright, that's acceptable. If absolutely nothing else going on in this house today is going to be, then at least there's that.

    " No, no, " he pipes up suddenly, softly, as his arms gently moving to slip around his little lady. There was just something in her tone that told him he definitely didn't want to miss out on those plans. " Let's just... see how the night plays out, hm? Maybe we don't have to rule that out just yet. "

Anxious is a word for things beyond that, though.

    " William, you can't just say upstairs and expect me to find--! "

Especially when he spots his dad walking back through the door again - god, he can swear he feels his heart stop.

    " Oh. Well excuse me, am I interrupting something here? " It doesn't sound like Milford cares too much, though. That's for sure. " Who's this gorgeous little woman you've got in your lap there, William? That can't possibly be Tori, can it? "
