The Single Session Life Drawing workshops are designed for those with busier schedules who may not be able to attend multi-week workshops. They are open to beginners as well as those with experience. 

These single sessions will focus on specific exercises designed to get the artist to use touch, empathy and the kinesthetic sense to capture the human form which you can use for future studies.  

Life Drawing not only focuses on the important building blocks for all arts-based careers, it’s also an essential skill for any artist to develop and it can also be a great source of relaxation and stress-relief.

It’s not too late! Digital Background Painting starts Nov 1 and there’s still space! • The DBP workshop teaches the basics of Photoshop and the step process of design and rendering of animated backgrounds. The principals of Photoshop and professional techniques will be presented through the use of a variety of processes and applications while painting landscapes, architectural and fantasy environments. Lectures and “hands-on” lab-time will be given for practice and application of the theory taught in this course. Creative thinking will be promoted in order to encourage individuality of style through the students’ original designs, layouts, and paintings. 👉This Digital Background Painting workshop is aimed at beginners, though students with some experience or familiarity with Photoshop are welcome to attend. • About the Instructor: 👩🏻 MAYA IVANOVA is an internationally trained architect whose 18-year work experience has taken her from designing buildings, interiors, and urban landscapes to painting for TV Productions. As a 2D background artist, Maya has worked on the award-winning shows The Lion Guard and Tangled – The Series for the Walt Disney Company as well as on the Netflix productions Atomic Puppet, Hilda, Star, Captain Sinbad Bed and Breakfast, Canticos, Molly, Kid Cosmic and others. For over 10 years Maya has been sharing her experience and passion for art with young and developing artists by teaching at her art studio, at The City of Toronto and currently at Max the Mutt College of Art, Design and Animation. ONLINE! INTRODUCTION TO TRADITIONAL ANIMATION – SATURDAYS, starts Oct 17 - 😃An exciting intro to the fundamentals of animation. We will be exploring techniques in 2D hand-drawn animation that can later be applied to any animation medium down the road. This intuitive 2D animation course will allow you to explore and foster your creativity. - 🧔🏻About the Instructor: BRYCE HALLETT is a Toronto based independent animator with over 20 years of experience. He is a graduate of Classical Animation at Sheridan College, Graphic design at Canadore College and studied Film and TV production at Humber College. His freelance career spans the gamut of creating animation and motion graphics for documentaries, Tv commercials, educational films, sketch comedy, music videos and the odd video game App. In addition to animating he enjoys sharing his expertise teaching courses and workshops at various institutions including The Toronto Animated Image Society, Teletoon, Sheridan College, Seneca College and OCAD University. - ✍️He is the illustrator of the book “ Animation Unleashed: 100 Principles Every Animator, Comic Book Writer, Filmmaker, Video Artist and Game Developer Should Know”, written by Ellen Besen.
