Today we went to the ROM

I wanted to show Sierra the rocks. and crystals at the ROM. Sierra is obsessed with rocks. Everywhere we go she collects rocks and locks them away in her chest. She and Jeremy even found a small fossil in the lake. I remembered the beautiful stones and naturally figured Sierra would love them.

I also wanted to show her the bat cave and the discovery center.

You get to dress up in costumes and dig for dinosaur bones and they have tons of historical toys and books for children.

This morning at seven am (late for Sierra) I woke up a sleeping but giggling Si. (she is a very animated sleeper)

We proceeded to get ready for work, I packed lunch, she had breakfast and got to watch one TV show. Then we took the bus to work. She had a blast running around with a bunch of slightly older girls and I taught my class.

I invited Si outside after class to come for a knitting lesson, she was having so much fun she had refused. (She had been begging for one all day yesterday. Eventually she joined Frieda and I outside and she "mitted" for about five minutes. She had a blast. 

We got on the bus and then took the subway. Sierra loves trains and watched out the window the entire time. 

When we got to the Toronto ROM (look it up it has a fascinating entrance) Sierra became infatuated. She explained to me that I was not to touch anything and that I could only look with my eyes. Who told her that?

She then dubbed  it the "diamond building." From the moment she entered and saw dinosaur bones she was in heaven. She enjoyed the statues in every single exhibit. All of them, she made us look at every single one.

She had tons of questions about everything. I told her about mummies and showed her my favorite things in each exhibit we visited. Strangely Sierra really enjoyed looking at the Victorian English furniture displays (rooms arranged to reflect how people lived back then.) I told her little stories about the people who lived there based on the furniture in the room.

I couldn't wait to show her the rocks, so I went into the Geology Museum and was bombarded with Native American items. Very cool but I thought I was crazy. i could have sworn it said geology. maybe I was stupid and I didn't know what Geology was. We left and went across the hall to the Mineral Museum.

I was super pissed. While every other exhibit was cool this one was kind of dull and badly arranged..oh and they got rid of the minerals for it. (Temporary exhibit most likely?) I kid you not...it was an exhibit on Canadian furniture...not arranged nicely and you couldn't touch or go near it...wtf?

Sierra's absolute favorite things besides digging for dinosaur bones was the bat Cave, we had to go through it five times. She first time she went in she was timid, by the end she was telling me all about bats. She even interrogated a staff member about bats. She had to get a bat magnet and now she keeps begging to visit the bat cave.

Best part..kids three and under are free.
