That’s not to say these guys aren’t good at making this kind of game, but the way they talk about it, it sounds like they’re on a mission from God, or something. It’s two and a half minutes of hot air about “deep engagement with the marble.”

It’s basically a lot of over-describing elements that all games have (good controls, creative levels), and trying to use that as an oblique method to elevate their game. Mumbo jumbo, in other words.

Also, I really don’t like the name “Marble It Up.” There’s no cadence to saying it, it has trouble rolling off the tongue, and if it’s supposed to be a reference to something I’m not sure where it’s from or why it’s important. They probably can’t use the name “Marble Blast” anymore, which is unfortunate. But “Marble It Up” is not a good replacement and they really should have workshopped something a little more clever than that.

I’m sure it’ll be fun, but I think it’s going to have to rely more on word-of-mouth from existing Marble Blast fans, because that name and that trailer isn’t going to do them any favors on first impressions.
