At those words, Lancelot couldn’t help but let out a chuckle. To think that there was someone out there who appreciated his happiness...and to come from the apple of his eye, the one he had sought for so long. Lancelot’s heart felt light hearing those words come from Guinevere. She always had that effect on him, but this time felt especially pronounced. His chuckle became a more bellowing laugh that he rode out until he had to catch his breath.
“Ah...Forgive me, milady. I did not mean to mock you, but I could not help my laughter there,” he spoke. “I’m reveling...reveling how lucky I am to be here with you. Here where nobody can tear us apart. No prying eyes nor wicked tongues will keep us from each other...” Lancelot took her hand into his, gripping it firmly to let Guinevere know that he’ll always be with her. Now and forever.
And he smiled. One of the rarer occasions that he’d beam brightly and genuinely.
“I love you, Guinevere...”
“Even if you try hiding it, I can still see the kindness in your eyes.”

Guinevere’s words catch the grieving Lancelot by surprise. How could she say something like that so easily? How could she say that to someone who had essentially ruined his beloved kingdom, simply because of forbidden love? Those words were almost insulting to a traitor like him.
And yet...Lancelot knew. He knew that her words weren’t out of mere sympathy. Though the past could never be fully washed away, though some may never truly see him in the same light ever again, what mattered was the road forward from here on out. And Guinevere could see it clearly in his heart: that kindness she spoke of still burned brightly. It hadn’t died out the moment he committed that grievous sin.
Lancelot sighed, then cracked a small smile as he turned his head to face Guinevere. A chuckle left his lips as he mused over the effect her words had on him. Redemption truly is a funny thing at times...
“Thank you...” he breathed out, like a heavy load had been lifted off his shoulders.

Lancelot had recently taken to strolling around Chaldea’s hallways every now and then, partly to relieve his boredom and partly to make sure there were no present dangers to the Master and the facilities. He had come to enjoy these strolls greatly, seeing the daily lives of the other Servants like the children playing with each other or the casual banter between others his age.
As he continued, he then spotted a familiar figure. And stopped in his tracks. “A-Ah...Lady Guinevere...” Lancelot stammered out. “What a...pleasant surprise to see you here...” No matter how much time passed since then, seeing Guinevere always made his heart skip a few beats. Try as he might, he couldn’t keep a cool attitude around her, though he had been trying to let go of that and be loose around her instead.
“Er, what brings you here by your lonesome, Milady?” he inquired her.
