This is a collection of most (not all!) of the torties I have created portraits of over the years. I also included calicos because 1. They are genetically the same as torties 2. In some countries people call calicos torties with white 3. How much white fur can you have and still be considered a torties 🧐 as you can see there is every shade and mix represented from lilac and buff to black and red. Torbie and caliby kitties too- that is tortie/calico mixed with tabby patterns. According to some statistics, torties are the second least likely to be adopted from the shelter after black cats. Some of that maybe due to the #tortitude “problem” which suggests that cats with this color/pattern are more likely to be aggressive/assertive/sassy. I think this is simply not true as any cat of any color - just like humans - has an equal chance of having what we perceive as negative behavior. And also just like humans - that can be correlated to how we treat them. I treat my cats like the angels they are 🥰😹 and we have no problems. Sure Fig and Rye @oliveandrye are both very chatty and opinionated but they are also gentle, loving and intelligent - and have my respect and adoration. 🧡🖤🧡🖤🧡🤍 in your country - what do you call torties? #careycat?
