Toss and C.R.E.A.M. (ST)
Had a girl-date with LH today in Berkeley. We went to Crossroads Trading Co. and I bought a jacket and a tank. Horray!
After that, we met up with JM and went to a place called Toss. It is a noodle place where you get to basically assemble your own noodle bowl. Different types of noodles, you can get either a soup base, stir fry, or curry. I decided to get the laksa soup with thin rice noodle, with another order of friend octopus. JM got the Hokkien (its kinda like the noodle that people use for chow mein) noodle with tom yum, and LH got green curry with steamed rice.
LH and JM has never heard of laksa soup before. The only time that I've heard of it was at the dining commons at UC Davis. At Davis, their laksa soup is delish. It kinda reminded me of a extremely spiced up coconutty tom yum. The laksa at Toss was really really coconutty, to the point where it was really really creamy, and it wasn't really spicy and flavorful. It was good, but I don't think it was worth the $8. It was a pretty good helping though. I got full before finishing it, and I usually finish stuff, haha.
The fried octopus was...fried octopus. I like fried octopus, but the portion was kinda small for $6. Its good if you dip it in the sauce that was provided.
I was also able to try LH and JM's dishes. Overall, I felt both dishes were a bit bland. LH's green curry was more soupy than curry-ee. The tom yum...was just so bland. Meh.
LH said she liked the food, and she would come here again. Then again, she eats almost anything. JM was so tired, I don't remember asking him if he liked the place or not. He was feeling sick, so I guess the soup really hit the spot for him. As for me, I don't think I would come here again. If I did, I think I would go for the tom yum (because I LOOOVE tom yum.)
Even though we were so full, we decided to get C.R.E.A.M. I've actually never been to CREAM before. There was a long line when we got there (pretty normal, LH says). I got strawberry cheesecake with chocolate chip and white chocolate macadamia nut. Tasted pretty normal for me. If I went again, I would get the snickerdoodle with whatever ice cream they have...supposedly the snickerdoodle stays soft, even with the ice cream. I also got a half dozen of cookies, to bring back to QT (notice that I didn't mention him in this post? Felt kinda weird without him, but whatever LOLOL). $3.50 for 6 cookies is REALLY cheap. I should have eaten one of those cookies though, to see if its really that good.
When I got home, I was so tired (food coma?) that I went to sleep.
