DUST – ROBIN FOX 12"

Concept and packaging(1) for 'ATMP(R)L: CYCLE 1' by renowned audio-visual artist ROBIN FOX, designed in collaboration with LUKE BROWN. Produced with its own partner fragrance of the same name, and mastered by legendary engineer NOEL SUMMERVILLE (Aphex Twin, The Clash, Grandmaster Flash).

The record is an electronic interpretation of the element of air, exploring its property of the distribution of sound waves as well as its transparency. To reflect this, the concept was to make the both the physical object and recorded contents completely transparent(4). Every available piece of data relating to the audio and materiality of the record was exposed(3): latitude/longitude where the record was pressed and recorded, length of the groove in meters, the chemical composition of the vinyl, as well as readings from the air on the day it was completed etcetera.

The A-side exposes the track itself as a spectrogram of the audio, showing only the peak bins in a logarithmic frequency scale. The entire package was then vacuum sealed.
