It wasn’t the fact of who it was, it was just the fact that it even happened that had Max in a slump. She thought they were family, an unbreakable force— always there for eachother. Maybe she was wrong…The rest of the Flock couldn’t see her like that—so there she was, losing herself on the roof of the house they currently resided. She couldn’t believe the Flock was falling apart-
Even if she didn’t hear him, she definitely saw Iggy as he joined her. Her back went all rigid, and her sniffing momentarily stopped as she watched him move next to her. She shifted with the silence.
She wasn’t expecting him to pull at her, but it was definitely accepted. Max even let her ‘leader’ attitude down just enough for her to shudder against him. “Clearly we’re not,” her voice came out raw. “God—” I can’t keep us together, she wanted to say, but kept that to herself.
Max closed her eyes at the gesture. “You don’t know that— don’t promise it’ll be okay, because you know it won’t.”
Iggy quietly stroked her hair, letting her speak. "I do know it," he said, smiling wryly. "I know everything, Max. I thought you'd realized that by now."
He grew serious again, pressing his face into her head. "Please don't be upset," he mumbled, kissing her head again. "I just--- don't like seeing it. You should be happy, and if stupid dumb Fang made you sad, then fuck him. You deserve better." Iggy tried not to think too much of his own words, giving her waist a gentle squeeze.
"I'm not gonna leave you," he murmured. "I promise. Even if I get mad, even if I think it'd be better for you, I won't leave. I don't wanna make you sad."
