(wip? messed up the perspective alot here lmao) very badly scribbled (and not done at all) but do you see my vision of a rebuilt and expanded farm ruins as the main hub + the tower built into one thats made for rito to land on bc to me it only makes sense to put the newspaper in the center of the land (the house is styled after paper and printing, theres a printing press in the room too)
also a smith in tune with my reworked weapons system (and it just makes sense ...)- not very fortified but a little bit still with a higher wall on the side of the lil tower on the left- the farm house itself is bigger and offers a place to rest and stock up on things-
trying to worm my way back into doing even a little bit of the roughest art via some new concepts for botw2's ending (totk rewritten)
(totk-rewritten aka botw2 project)
(sky area yellow concepts)
(zelda)
okay since im trying to put less pressure on myself im just gonna post whatever bits of the rewrite i can get done instead of stressing myself into trying to do a whole concept art book section at once-
anyway, here are some design concepts for one of the different sky areas for my botw2 project (totk-rewritten) including a the ancient monk and bird tamer and a tiny doodle for some of the cloud mechanic, obviously theres alot missing in this just for this area alone but i will have to do it in bits and pieces; i do plan to go into detail about the cloud and bird mechanic at some point
the islands here have been shaped by the wind into these structures, slowly eroding the ground and stone, the wind is also the reason there is little vegetation here but it holds valuable materials, for potions (storable healing) and food (immediate consumption) as well as crafting (weapons etc), with the stamina fruit (you need to be hardy to live here) and poison mushroom (filtering toxins out of the air to stop birds from eating it)
this ancient monk has been here since at least the persecution of the shiekah, its unkown for how long they have been alone but they dont speak and seems generally very absent minded and often act like they dont even notice you
you can encounter them on any bigger island, not just this area, like terry/beedle and with them you can register birds (which are used for an upwards boost while gliding and come to you by whistle), they will be sitting around at the edge of islands, on top of pillars, seemingly communicate with birds?, do maintenance on the maschinery that keeps the islands up and hidden- or chill/sew in their home (not depended on rain, bc yes the sky area has weather now, yellow is warm and very windy and tends to have alot of sun and .. wind, up to storms (new weather) but does have rain or mist as well)
keep in mind all these concepts can change later on, this is a side project and i will work on it only occasionally as there are more important things i want to work on primarily
(WIP) for totk rewritten project; the underground zora queen!
a littel bit ago i wrote about my rewrite of the dungeons, and in case you didnt read through that wall of text; the zora one takes palce entirely underground in large, mostly water filled caves and the ancient zora waterworks which here are essential to the surface zora even if they didnt know and have been maintained by a group of now distinctly different zoras that grew from a group of ancient zora that were cut off from the sruface at some point and since then forgotten
now with the cataclysm changing the map drastically, which dries up the zoras domain, connection from the caves to the sruface has been restablished- on your way to get the water going again you explore the udnerground and here, uniquely, you find and fight these different zoras, they have been seperated so long you cannot communicate with them and you are invading their territory in a time of crisis (bc they are trying to keep the waterworks intact/ survive), the bossfight being with their queen (of comparable size to dorephan) and you either gaining her respect or (havent decided yet) sidon healing her after she goes down (since his reworked ability is a shield+ healing)
after the dungeon the cave zora will appear over the whole map, but only at night as they are adapted to the dark and sun would damage them
(it mixes up the thing of dungeons being just filled with monsters that need to be eradicated with a conflict between two kinds of zora that dont understand each other anymore- ALSO explains more and different zora npcs appearing much more easily imo)
since my totk rewrite has no effect on the reality of what the game is i really should worry less if its too "fan fiction" like bc honestly what kind of category judgement is that considering how canon totk goes, still i want it to be believable enough bc i also like it as a sort of trial if i could manage to make it into something i find interesting and plausible as a game
(havent rambled about my ideas and plans for a while so)
today i started thinking about my rewritten version of ganondorf and how much i want to push ancient zelda having an influence on current zelda (keep it as a mostly subconscious thing or happening in dreams or make it into more of a partial posession case for example)
then i thought about how to improve the ending, i want to keep most of the structure i already had- (the ending taking place in the innards of the forgotten plateau, one phase of the fight breaking through it from inside so there reasonable obstacle for your allies to reach you again (who didnt go through the whole dungeon with you), and so it doesnt entirely take place in one stinking cave nor ends in the literal same spot as the last game+ plus i want ganondorf not be contained to the underground the whole time, especially given the mid game fight with fake zelda ambush that takes place in hyrule castle thats fallen into the underground already- at the phase before the last one a pause to think its over but then zelda losing parts of her dominant hand and thus making you lose her functions (since shes your companion that not only supports in battle but also does on the fly weapon repair)+ links sheikah prosthetic being either damaged or taken at some point + him dealing the killing blow on his own against what zelda wanted (since i want her over the course of the story to think of ganondorf less a monster + not giving up on diplomacy + interested in what he knows given hes from an ancient time- not bc i want her to be uwu soo nice but bc i want her to change over the story and grow an inner conflict of what she was taught and believes VS what she has learned now and her drive for knowledge bc i like the latter as a motivator that can push selfishness and disregard for what someone else might want AND to make link act on his own bc he shouldnt be a perfect servant ((sorry i keep doing these bad summaries i just keep thinking i gotta give some context to those who dont know my rewrite))
but thought about how to give it a different tone and the fact that in canon you never see ganondorf actually interact with any gerudo or even .. being anywhere there which annoys me tremendously- so in my rewrite i might make it into a point of character then, given the entirely new backstory and history i wrote, what if a reason he doesnt try to go backor even avoids them is for a complicated mix of emotions, from the resentment of knowing they are on hyrules side now, him and his history rewritten, lost or erased, the fear and knowledge of it not being the place he knew anymore (given hes from the distant past) and the pain of seeing how much is changed between your memories and the present, but also perhaps a little bit of not feeling worthy given he had essentially failed to resolve the conflict with (ancient) zelda + him not really being alive anymore either (given what ancient zeldas seal did to him)-
the last phase of the end fight (so with zelda and her gameplay functions disabled + links dominant hand via the shiekah tech arm damaged) your allies fight alongside you (without you having to run to them for abilities since those are tied to those few permanent weapons) maybe with you having to free them from a grip every now and then- but at some point each one of them is taken out in random order with riju being the last, when hes about to take her out too hesitates just for a second (this would be the first time he interacted directly with another gerudo after he was sealed) and link takes that second to go for the final blow using his left hand, instead of an epic explosion or otherwise bombastic visual, ganondorf succumbs to the mastersword only bc the malice thats kept him alive rescedes enough to make him vunerable (unsure whether to add direct comparison to him seeing one of his daughters in riju just like he does with current zelda and ancient zelda, though the latter has more than just the blood connection since whatever was left of ancient zelda went to current zelda sorta like what we saw with link and his arm in the og trailer- or if thats too cliché)
would it be too much "focus" on horses if i added to my totk rewrite/botw2 concept that, rarely, if you leave your horses for a long time in the main hub* they can have a foal? i want to add younger animals anyway so? since horses can die i wouldnt have them be so young they cant go on without the mare though so the farm would keep them there and you can decide to keep them or sell them or something- would that add too much weirdness with the time progression? since everythign else doesnt change or age it might make it a bit out of tune..
*(which i here chose to be the farm ruins rebuilt and expanded, including the middle part being for tame horses/livestock to roam and graze a little- so you can go there and see which horses are yours and saddle them up right there and go, without having to do the whole stable dialog here; also maybe some horses you can buy there?)
lynel smith wip :)
