Listening to artists

Tonight, I went to a spoken word event downtown with a few friends, which I haven't done in some time. Listening to the performers was interesting in itself because I like to believe I dabble in poetry (mostly rambles), and it was nice to see people really do it passionately. It was also interesting to hear these people speak on their passion, and the struggle that comes along with having an artistic, time-consuming, not for profit passion. I drew a lot of parallels between my own artistic struggles and the struggles of the spoken word artists tonight. It was nice to hear other people talk about the things that I think about, and decide on continuing despite the adversity. At the end of the day, these and all gifts are gifts from God and they wouldn't exist without reason/purpose. I really enjoyed being around other people who could project the love that they had for their art just by doing it. I'm feeling refreshed.
