so the season finale of touch REALLY spoke to me on so many fringe levels
[& my JGIERUIHUEI reaction feels are under the cut]
but damn there needs to be more like fringe/touch things because the entire show is just paths, patterns, probability - OBSERVING. & a character is pretty much a parallel for september - avram. in the episode, he's being punished for being too involved with people he was supposed to merely OBSERVE - he is literally referred to as AN OBSERVER in the show. & he bucks against his spiritual leader / boss / head a la september so beautifully. avram has developed a lot of feelings for a boy he views almost like a SON. he's feeling love for something he SHOULD not. it's forbidden. he's grown too close to these special humans like august & that's cause for great shame & scorn - something is wrong with avram for feeling this way. & when he's faced with a future / path that might include jake's death he just looses it. THAT'S NOT ACCEPTABLE, he screams. he's blamed by this spiritual leader for putting things into motion that shouldn't have been placed into motion [welp september welp]. & in the end, avram passes over responsibility to jake's father, bestowing him with a device & trusting him to look after the future of the 36 / the world. & i was just OH MY GOD I MISS FRINGE.
& children being exploited / tortured with science experiments because of their brains that push past limitations that we know of - being able to see visions & predict things before they happen... it screams of cortexichildren & cortexiphan. & amelia reminds me so much of olivia in some scenes... how she has to be so strong for jake & just the pain that she's been thru.
SPOILERS BUT IT HITS THE SHIT HOME: olivia seizing & amelia seizing - yeah i had the same emotional response. panic. & just when you think they're gone... WHAM ADRENALINE TO THE HEART SHE'S ALIVE SHE'S ALIVE TO BAMF IT UP - which means escape. Just like Entrada. OH MY GOD IT WAS FRINGE FEELS ALL OVER.
lightning bonus round: there's the obscure communication device to locate the other 36 & stuff & it totally reminds me of other-wordly typewriters. it's a synthesis of the known & the unknown. here's this device made of clock parts, but it has all these weird symbols. & @ the very end of the episode, someone is responding to the device, but they're not physically there - just like the mirror typewriter typing that response. just FEELS.
Oh & the shady person CEO has red hair & is super smart & has a great sense of style like Alt!Nina Sharp like... the shit is crazy Fringe parallel.
