In my opinion, Japan hits some hard topics in a comic form that The West rarely touches. Now, I'm not saying all Western Writers don't tackle the hard stuff, but they are labeled 'edgy' and 'abrupt', thus being pushed in certain circles, banned or ignored. . Recently, I've been reading a lot of manga to get a different perspective. And nothing delivers like the Easten perspective. . Warning: Some of these works are triggering, so read at your own risk. . * In Clothes Called Fat: Social body shaming, bulimia, fitspo, depression. . Mizutani Honey Boy: Gender roles and what true love looks like. . Attack on Titan: Racism, Slavery, Anti Semitism, PTSD. . Violet Evergarden: Living with disabilities, human trafficking, military service and PTSD from a Female perspective. . Demon Slayer: Spousal abuse. Familial abuse. Gender Roles. Ageism. . 7 Seeds: There were two many, but what got me was rape from the perspective of the victim, the perpetrator and what happened after. . I recommend these if you want a different perspective, but really I recommend these to people you know who likes this media but who are ignorant. .
