NYC is getting ready for the San Gennaro Festival. San Gennaro (Saint Januarius) is the patron saint of Naples and his feast day is September 19. The Feast of San Gennaro or Festa di San Gennaro is an Italian-American festival. Originally a one-day religious celebration, the festival was first held in the United States in September of 1926, when immigrants from Naples gathered on Mulberry Street in the Little Italy. They continue the tradition today that they had followed in the homeland. The feast features Italian Sausage, Cannolis, Zeppoles, and other Italian favorites.
