OHMYGOD I FUCKING LOVED THE DABI FALLING FOR SOMEONE WITH A QUIRK OPPOSITE OF HIM CAN U PLZ DO A CONTINUATION ID GREATLY APPRECIATE IT
A/n: JDKSKSJ THANK YOU SO MUCH! HERE'S THE PART TWO!!!
The bar was mostly quiet since it was late at night. Y/n didn't expect it to be so deserted; she actually needed someone to talk to, share her problems with, her doubts and the person she was looking for was—
"What brings you here in the middle of the night, Dollface?"
Spinning around—almost tripping on her feet in the process—she let out a gasp of surprise upon seeing Dabi sprawled on the couch just behind her! Wait a second, she didn't see him come in!
She definitely concluded he wasn't the person she wanted to have a personal chat with. As a matter of fact, Y/n was hoping she could talk with Toga or Magne—someone who understood her and not this guy!
"I-I could ask the same!" she uttered, immediately crossing her arms above her chest, a habit she hadn't got rid of since childhood. He was surely enjoying the flustered look on her face!
'Just 3 days ago he almost roasted me alive and now he acts flirtatious towards me? Oh, please!' Y/n growled inside her head, eye twitching in annoyance.
"I want to cool my head off," Dabi replied. He didn't take his eyes off her for a second. Smirking, he added, "Could you help me with that, Ice Queen?"
Y/n's eyebrows furrowed, frustration building up. She tapped her foot on the floor impatiently, narrowing her eyes at the male. "I could freeze you if you want." She shrugged as if it was the most normal suggestion to say.
Sensing her agitation, Dabi sat up, turquoise eyes reflecting malice as he spoke, "Oh, really? I'd like to see you try."
"Not having any second thoughts?"
"Did I fucking stutter?"
She let her arms drop to her sides, fingers tingling as ice flowed through her veins. It wouldn't hurt to actually crystallize him, would it?
Without warning, she shot a wave of ice towards his direction, not enough to kill him but enough to damage him physically (especially his ego) if he got hit. Y/n's attack was ruthless but Dabi is an experienced fighter—he wouldn't fall back so easily.
The second she made her move, he conjured a wall of seething, blue fire to melt the ice into a puddle of water under his feet. Then, he lazily produced another set of flames to counter her attack.
Shocked by the turn of events, Y/n put up a barrier too late—
Slamming to counter harshly, she let out a weak groan as she attempted to pick herself up. The force of Dabi's inferno literally bruised her back and probably twisted a joint. Damn him!
Dabi was quick to respond. Before she got to her feet, he had already curled a hand around her throat, experimentally squeezing to see how she would react. "Giving up, Dollface?"
Through ragged breathing, Y/n said, "N-Not in the slightest."
"That's a complication." He teasingly leaned closer, bending her body at an odd angle on the counter top, face inches apart from hers. She could feel his hot breath against her tender flesh. Y/n shivered, eyes shutting to a close. "You see, we don't need a weakling in the League."
Despite the looming danger in front of her, Y/n retorted, "You might be right but we don't need assholes in the League, too. It doesn't matter if we were childhood friends—attacking me like that is—"
"You attacked first, in case you forgot."
She feebly chuckled, "You asked for it."
"Really?" His grip tightened, causing her to choke from lack of oxygen. "I don't remember asking."
"I-I don't remember giving p-permission for you to initiate in touching m-me either!" Y/n wheezed, vision turning hazy, falling to unconsciousness unavoidable if he continued that tight hold around her neck—it was like a collar!
"I don't need permission. This just shows how much stronger I am compared to you." Dabi's answers were enough to drive her crazy. This lethal pyromaniac not only seemed to enjoy seeing her a flustered mess but he also seemed interested in watching her struggle like a pathetic animal on a leash.
"Da-Damn you—"
The door leading outside slammed open and Kurogiri strolled in. His eyes grew wide with shock as he saw the situation the two were in. Instantly, he demanded in an authoritative voice, "Get off Y/n this instant!"
Dabi did as told, backing away from the female, a smug smirk still present on his lips. "We were just horsing around—it wasn't a big deal."
"Not a big... NOT a big deal?!" Kurogiri bellowed, his misty body towering over Dabi's figure in rage. "Judging from the burn marks on her forearms and the bruises littering Y/n's skin, you almost killed her!"
"K-Killed her, my ass," Y/n mumbled, hoisting herself on a stool, a hand on her chest to calm her thrumming heart.
"That so?"
"As an old member of the League, you shout set an example! You can't just hurt anyone you dislike! You must treat them with respect most specially if that recruit is a female!"
"I don't 'dislike' her," Dabi retorted, glancing at Y/n from the corner of his eye.
"If you don't then I trust you patch her up right now!"
"I don't recall liking her either."
"Now!"
Sighing loudly, Dabi strode over to Y/n, who just stared at him in anger. There was no way she was going to let him touch her again!
She inched away from his outstretched hand, her own arms wrapped loosely around her body as if to shield herself.
Noticing her discomfort, Dabi's playful demeanor was back again. "Let's get this over with, Dollface. Maybe if I heal you, we'd get more alone time together?"
Y/n was purely aware of Kurogiri watching them interact. If she acted being civil to the scarred male, his perspective of skepticism towards her will turn to trusting her completely.
Not wanting to waste this chance, Y/n reluctantly took Dabi's hand, wincing from the uncomfortable warmth of his palm. "You better do your job right, Dabi."
"As you wish."
She still loathed him but the idea of having her injuries treated quickly would bring relief. Besides, Y/n doesn't want to sleep with broken joints.
And maybe Dabi could secretly be a good listener—if only he wouldn't oppose to the things she'd want to tell him.
Perhaps aside from Toga or Magne, he might carry out a great conversation that will last for hours.
Hopefully.
