He’s not sure if that’s a request, a command, or a whispered plea that he wasn’t supposed to hear but he did and it kills him, makes him want to crawl out from under him and run as far as he can but something in his body makes him stay. And then he’s moving without his control, his arms wrapping around Ward, Grant, tightly to keep him as close as he can. He remembers this, it’s one of the first things that came back to stay, the way it felt when they were touching like this. Soft and slow and so goddamn tenderly that it scared the shit out of him. But, fuck, he does love him. Barely even remembers things about him but he does love him.

“I love you, I love you, Grant.” The words are whispered against the shell of his ear.
