Another image from my Anthropocene project, the Tower Colliery, Hirwaun. Opened in 1878, the colliery ran for 130yrs with the last owners being a group formed by the workforce. Despite being the last deep mine in Wales to be closed in 2008, the historic and treasured site, was transformed into the Phoenix and Tower Coaster in the early 2020s, making it South Wales first Zipline World https://www.zipworld.co.uk/location/tower 2019 marked the last time for The Valleys miners to meet one last time to reminisce about the colliery.
