towerofglass replied to your post: If you increase a poor person's wages they would...
Regardless, taxes are the least of a poor person’s worries when you are only making 15k a year
While I appreciate the sentiment, I am pretty sure you do not speak for all “poor people” and I am beginning to doubt that you have the personal experience necessary to say what does and does not qualify as a “poor person’s [financial] worries.”
An 80-hour paycheck at federal minimum wage yields a gross of $580 dollars biweekly. Take away 25% of that and you’re left with only $435 dollars (and that’s at PA tax rates, many states are much higher). At these wage levels, an earner is also eligible for federal and state benefits in the form of housing subsidies, electric/gas/water bill subsidies, SNAP benefits, and Medicaid benefits; especially when you consider that most minimum wage jobs do not provide full-time hours, cutting your effective earnings. Attaining even one of these supplementary sources of income can free up the low-income earner’s disposable income for things like eating out, shopping and merchandise, and other things the federal government deems to be a ‘luxury’ expense. Things that everyone, including impoverished workers, should be able to access.
Having lived and worked like this for many years of my own life, I can absolutely say without a doubt that the extra $290 dollars a month --- on top of any one, if not all, of those welfare benefits --- would have went very far.
not funny, communismkills is dead
My name is Zak Bagans. I've never believed in ghosts until I came face to face with one. So I set out on a quest to capture what I once saw onto video....With no big camera crews following us around, I am joined only by my fellow investigator Nick Groff and our equipment tech Aaron Goodwin. The three of us will travel to the some of most highly active paranormal locations, where we will spend an entire night, being locked down from dusk until dawn....Raw...Extreme...These are our Ghost Adventures.
