Woodsdale Fire.

Wheeling fire fighters responded to a house fire shortly after midnight Saturday on Edgington Lane in the Woodsdale neighborhood. When firefighters arrived, flames could be seen coming from the top floor and roof area of the structure. Based on initial findings, the fire appears to have started on the second floor of the duplex. The occupant inside was able to escape unharmed. No one else was injured. A cause is not yet known as the fire remains under investigation.

Route 7 Lane Closure.

The West Virginia Division of Highways advises that from Tuesday, March 3 through Friday, March 6, the right Southbound lane of Ohio Rt. 7 will be closed during daytime hours (8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.) to allow for signage installation. This closure will run between the North 5th Street Exit in Martin’s Ferry and the US 250 Exit in Bridgeport. Motorists are advised to be alert for changing traffic patterns and expect delays.  Any questions or concerns regarding the I-70 Bridges Project can be directed to the hotline at 304-810-3214. Dinner and Movie.

The 1976 Academy Award-winning political thriller “All the President’s Men” is showing on the Towngate Theatre big screen for one night only Friday, March 6. The film is part of Towngate’s popular Dinner and A Movie film series. The film stars Robert Redford and Dustin Hoffman as “The Washington Post” reporters Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein as they uncover the details of the Watergate scandal that leads to President Richard Nixon’s resignation. Admission is just $7. Moviegoers have to option to have dinner in the The Gallery at Towngate prior to the screening. Cost for the dinner is $20 and includes movie ticket, all food, soft drinks, coffee, tea, water and a box of popcorn to enjoy during the film. Beer and wine are available for purchase. Dinner guests can also reserve their seat for the film prior to the screening. Reservations for the dinner must be made by 5 p.m. Wednesday, March 4 and can be made at www.oionline.com or by calling 304-242-7700. Dinner is served promptly at 6:30pm. Showtime is 7:30pm.

Burn Ban.

The Belmont County EMA Office wishes to remind residents that there is a ban on open burning during the months of March, April, May, October, and November.

Bruce Wheeler will be interviewed this afternoon at 4 p.m. on The Watchdog (98.1 FM WKKX and 97.7 FM WVLY) to discuss his new ventures, including a new series of blues shows at River City Restaurant in downtown Wheeling.

Investigation under way into a fire at Wyke Wash N Dry

An investigation is underway following a fire at Wyke Wash N Dry Laundrette on Town Gate Wyke.

The fire was occured at 8:57pm tonight (Monday 30 July) with  50% of the ground floor involved in the fire. Crews used two hose reels and four breathing apparatus and a high powered fan to clear the building of smoke.
