Bilbo moved quietly, not wanting to disturb Bofur in his work. Bilbo had been writing a bit after dinner and left Bofur by the fire and his carvings. Passing the hall however he heard a faint snoring and smiled. But then thought it better not to just leave him to it as Bofur’s hand was perilously close to the fire place. The little wooden carving wouldn’t have dropped into the fire, but a chance ember nearby would have surely caused some damage. Bilbo crept forward, took both the knife and carving from Bofur’s hands, lest he was dreaming about fighting orcs and made a wrong move waking up. Bilbo had his fair share of nightmares since their return. He set them aside on the near end table next to Bofur’s pipe and pack he planned to have a bit later. Bilbo moved to gently and stealthily settle his knees between the arm chair and Bofur’s legs, sitting close on his lap and wake him with a kiss.
