Hi friends, my name is Genevieve, I live in a 1985 Toyota Bandit with my rescued husky @Sailortheroaddog, I’m almost 38 years old, spent 35 of those years in Florida, where I was born & raised, walked away from two successful careers as a professional dancer and in marketing & development to live free, I’m a lot of Italian so I talk with my hands a lot, wear dirt colored sweaters and dark jeans almost every day, shower once a week (if I’m lucky), pick up garbage everywhere I go, sometimes dive into dumpsters and I live close to the land because I freaking love this planet! I’ve also made a life decision, to rebuild the interior of my 1985 #ToyotaBandit using all salvaged and/or recycled materials, including some items left by humans on the public lands I live in, including bag fulls of bullet shells, a really big American flag, buckets, fixtures, jars, cans, crates, bottles, scrap metal, etc. I’m also looking for suggestions and advice on low impact camper builds & construction. 🌎 My friend, @ajcmedia, who took this photo, and I both ran into some recent writers block and were talking about overcoming that by writing about what we were most passionate about. For me, I’ve always had a love affair with places & nature. I can’t think of anything I’m more passionate about, right now, than preserving the beauty of these places that have touched my heart and changed my life forever. So, as we kick off #EarthWeek, I’m committing myself to get back into the insta-game by posting on real #vanlife topics that will help spread the good word about what we can do, while spending time outdoors, to minimize our impact. 🌍 What can you do now? Hi 👋🏽 I'm Genevieve, and I'm "just a gasoline girl in a lithium ion world," as a good friend told me while we drove #WillieRose the #ToyotaBandit back cross country. I guess I'm also an analog girl in a digital world because while I've always loved capturing and sharing stories on social media, I've taken to shooting on an old #35mm camera. I've spent most of 2017 shooting rolls of film (but not developing them until now) and I realize I haven't posted much lately. Partly because instagram, a platform in which I've met & connected with so many amazing people, has also left me feeling a little disappointed & disheartened about the way humans in this world treat each other sometimes. There's also been a lack of posting due to my own personal anticipation of sharing stories through photos I've taken, on a real camera, rich with personal history. For my entire life, I've taken photos but I would not call myself a photographer until I learned how to shoot on full manual settings and utilize light to make magic, much like the photographer friends that never cease to inspire me with their work. It was also a personal goal of mine, to fully embody & own the creation of my story telling through my own words & photography. After a quick & straight forward crash course on taking photos with my newly acquired old #nikonfm2, from friend @jamesoneilphoto, one of those talented & inspiring photographers I mentioned previously, he snapped this photo of me and sent me out into the world (well, at least the western United States) strapped with my mother's old film camera and ready to take on the challenge of taking photos to capture the people & moments of this #vanlife so rich, that the stories kinda just tell themselves. Here's one of only two photos out of over 200 that I didn't take.

We got our heads in the clouds and we don't go to sleep to dream. Especially not when we wake up in the clouds, that came down from the sky to see what all our dreaming is about. Quite often I feel like I'm living the dream with my #ToyotaBandit #WillieRose and every once in a while, I wonder if living in that dream world is helping or hurting me in the long run. Up until a year ago, my life before Willie was far from dreamy and there's a big part of me that still feels like that was a really long, scary nightmare. One I'm very glad to have woken up from. But am I awake now or just dreaming a better dream? As I boondock in the cold rain, parked next to the best wifi in a small mountain town, trying to motivate myself to open my laptop and make some darn money (which seems to kill a little of my soul with each hour I bill), I realize the only thing preventing me from turning this good dream into a bad one is me. I am now my own dream weaver (Willie is my sandman). I build my own dream life now and that kinda feels just as heavy of a weight as trying to fulfill other's dreams, which I did a lot of in that really long nightmare. Only difference is, I dream it and I do it. I don't rely on other people to make my dreams come true. I sometimes just want to sleep without dreaming and that can limit what dreams I'm able to live but it's me making that decision. Can I also just make the decision to give into the dream of living in a dream world with another dreamer? I mean, my dream was never to live this dream life alone, but I woke up from the nightmare alone and I made the decision to follow my dreams alone. And that's not a dream that I can weave on my own. So what does the independent dreamer do when the clouds around my head start raining and living the dream gets a little lonely? Wake up and weave dollar signs into dreams that's what. Time to stare at pixels and let the thoughts of future dreams rest in the dream catcher until another night. Us dreamers aren't real good at thinking anyway.
