these are the lyrics to adelade.
lately she’s been feeling stagnant, like the last bit of smoke left behind in a pipe. she tells herself to smile more, thinking maybe that will help. beer and cigarettes run out, i guess. the late night dj has a voice like bit-crushed velvet, but it only seems to make her feel more alone. if only she’d left just a minute earlier, maybe he still would have been there. how long has she been staring at that lighter? she’s going to make someone really happy one day. their feet dangle off the edge of the roof. have you ever told her that? she doesn’t like it when people talk about her. it’s late and everyone’s drunk already. she looses her balance and falls into a pink velvet armchair. it reminds her of her first apartment. what ever happened to honeybee? she calls cab when she sees him walk in. the daffodils are yellow today. they were yellow yesterday, too. would it be weird if i gave him one? an old woman watches a girl steal a flower out of her garden. her hip kind of hurts this morning and there’s a large cut on her hand. had she fainted while she was at work yesterday? she calls her coworker but there’s no answer. it will remain a mystery. this storage unit is way too small for a concert. her roommate is on guitar. she remembers when they used to jam together, but now her guitar just sits in her closet in a really nice case. she holds back her tears while she’s on the bus. the hospital is all the way across town and the bus drives the speed limit the whole way there. all the while the woman’s voice echoes in her head; there’s been an accident. the drip is less bitter than last time. he’s sitting next to her on the couch. she begins to nod off and leans her head on his shoulder. he does another bump. she had been close with her parents. their passing had left her with an uncomfortable sense of mortality, so she finds solace in insufflation. it seems to help. her bloodshot eyes stare down the cereal isle. they’re out of cap’n crunch. she buys some aspirin instead. i don’t remember him working here... i hope he doesn’t recognize me. the headlights play movies on her wall at night. silent films for her to fall asleep to. she sees him standing in her doorway. life is a dream. he steps back into the shadows. the sun feels amazing on her skin. she’s been smiling more lately. she hasn’t talked to her ex-roommate in a while, but she doesn’t seem to mind. besides, she has a music room now. she died under the branches of a willow tree. she felt no fear. she sheltered no regrets. he said life was a dream and she loved to wake and bake.
this song is about my lack of internet... so i guess it’s kind of ironic that the only way you can listen to it is online. i’m up to 35 songs on this album. perhaps a two disc thing? we’ll see.
i don’t really know what happened here.
so this is that song that got played on the radio. funky biz. it’s totally acoustic too. i got this rad little keyboard at the d.i. for 4 bucks and it has a ton of weird midi instruments. a good addition to the arsenal.
so i moved into a new apartment and molly is keeping the free internet at her place for the time being so i’m stuck using the internet at the library. also big brother, my external hard drive is having some hardware issues so uploading music is going to be hit and miss until i save up some cash and get a new one. anyways here’s my most recent jam. i’m kind of 50% on this one. i dunno. it sounded like only half a song so i added some obnoxious keyboard and called it good. in other news one of my recent songs that i haven’t uploaded yet got played on the radio!!! hopefully i’ll remember to upload it soon. or you can check it out on soundcloud at https://soundcloud.com/tp-nc-641/neon-purple. as always you can also download it for free. but yeah my bud djs on the univeristy of utah radio station and spun that song a couple days ago and i thought that was rad. spread the sadness, brasko.
i wrote this song while eating an omelet at big ed's. oh big ed's. breakfast and beer all day makes blues go away. and this song had like 30 tracks. oh man it was crazy with ketchup. i have a hard time with levels when there are so many tracks so that's why my songs end up sounding like this. also sketches and short stories is now 31 songs long and a bit over an hour long! when my laptop broke i was like i'll make a shitty album in the meantime and it will be like 25 songs, so thank god for my tendency to procrastinate. or something.
i wrote a song about molly!!! also this song is one of those that i wrote the music without a clue of what the vocals would sound like. i think it turned out pretty well... even if the levels aren't perfect. fuck it.
