I know RGB is about to fall into a large body of water rn but I am skeptical that we will see Negative again so soon.
Has it ever been confirmed if Negative is triggered by tears or just water? Because every time he has appeared, it has been because someone cried directly into his vents (including the Grief). And all the way back at the start of the story, when the Fear stabbed RGB and started dragging him towards water, it was dragging him towards the Pool of Tears specifically.
The fan base seems to have assumed that any water getting into RGB’s vents will cause him to turn into Negative, but actually going through Negative’s appearances one by one, it has always been tears specifically. Unless I am forgetting something.
So if this frozen lake is made of just water and not tears, we may have to wait longer to see our Negative friend again.
But the question of what specifically causes Negative to appear has been one I’ve been wondering about since I first read the comic, so it’ll be interesting to see it answered.
