I could not pick which version I liked more, so here’s the more pop-like one as well.
I want to make full songs but I’m not sure how yet.
The first Beats Dissected blog post that I followed along with was for an Early 80s Groove.
I had a lot of problems creating this one because none of my drum sounds were acoustic. I learned the important lesson that if you use the wrong genre of sounds in a beat, it can come out like trash.
I found this free TR 707 drum rack for Ableton and it changed everything.
Another thing I learned when making this beat was how to reverse sounds in Ableton. Here’s a tutorial on how to create reverse snares. It’s pretty easy and once I created it and heard it in the beat I realized this was a sound I was used to hearing in everything.

This track is named after a skate night here in Austin called "Grown Folks Step and Roll". I remembered the name wrong, but it was too late to change it :(.
